#2866 - c. 1980's PATRICK KELLY Beige "Riding" Style Linen Jacket! You should know Patrick Kelly... though he passed away early in his career, he was still the first American member elected to the Chambre Syndicale of Paris. Among his clients were Grace Jones, Princess Di, Farrah Fawcett, and even Bette Davis and Zsa Zsa Gabor! Retrospectives of this African-American designer feature his innovative and witty colored button fashions. Only producing collections for 5 years until his death from AIDS, his fashions are collectable! NOW.... I confess I bought this at an antique show... but kept it for myself. I know I'm supposed to "be good" and only buy for you, my devoted customers and fans, but... every once in a blue moon (OK, I confess again.. sometimes it's more often than that!), I break down and convince myself that I can't live without "whatever it is", and so.... it goes into my personal closet. Years later I realize that I work at home in my jammies and bunny slippers more than I go out, and the poor item that I HAD to HAVE to wear... never got worn! I know I've gotta get a life, but this website takes too much time on computer, so... my bathrobe is my all I need. But it still kills me to sell the items I love! Waaahhh! This classic, one-button closure beige linen and off-white top-stitching jacket is similar to a riding jacket, however with floppy peplum, wide shoulders, wide lapels , it's extremely fashionable. Near Mint condition. Crisp. Add a sexy pencil skirt and stilletos. No... forget it... I'm keeping it!!!! Measures: 32-34" bust, 25-26" waist.

#4075 - c. late 1970's MARY MCFADDEN Red "Fortuny" Pleated Dress! It makes NO sense to me that people go ga-ga over Fortuny.. and yet these wonderful McFadden dresses don't yet have a following, even though McFadden has tons of prestigious fashion awards, including two Coty awards and induction into the coty Hall of Fame. ! I know it's only a matter of time before McFadden again becomes "hot", so stock up now! McFadden creatd her own signature fabric, "Marii" a pleated polyester which evokes the look of Fortuny, and the designs evoke Grecian togos. This dress is all red (I over-photographed it so you can see the design of the pleating... otherwise it would just look like a red blob in my photos. It's a lovely bluish-red, not of orange-red hue. Slightly puffy shoulders. The horizonal pleating of the bodice continue down to a draped feel at the hipline gathered up at one side with a heavy gold metallic lacey "ornament". Extremely thin gold trim edge the pleats. Skirt portion, drape and sleeves are of vertical pleating. Side zipper as well as upper back zipper. Measures: 37" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 39" hips, 49" long from shoulder to hem.

#4417 - c. 1990's THIERRY MUGLER "Classic" Black Very Lightweight Wool Soft Suit! I put the word "classic" in quotes... as this is classic.... for Mugler!!! Always architectural in style, Mugler's fashions are destined for museums. No question...as they are already there.. even exhibited at the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC! I have a Mugler white jacket in my closet that I will not part with! You may feel the same way! Mugler suits originally sold for thousands of dollars. This Mugler suit is of a very lightweight wool (labeled peignee) ... so less stiff than some other Muglers. Wide padded shoulders, though not as wide as the 80's suits. Unlined (as usually for Mugler). Jacket snaps and buckles at front. Skirt snaps up back! I love the back of the jacket as well! Measures: 34-38" bust, 26" waist, up to 37" hips, 21" long skirt. Excellent condition.. though the waist seems to have been taken in one side about 1/2 inch.

This outfit is so "me"! However, although it's marked size 12, it was tailored down to a very small size by the original owner, and there is no way I can wear it! Boo-hoo! Love it! Off-white fully quilted jacket and bustier with tiny gold metallic dots at each intersection. Trimmed in an opulent gold lace and large rhinestone closure at front and rhinestoned cuffed sleeves. The long, 5 layered skirt is a sheer organdy over two tulle and two linings giving great volume. Wide hemline in the same quilted fabric. Awesome. #9508 - c. 1940's / 1950's Black All Silk Ribbon Dress with Original Belt! LARGER SIZE! Every women (Ok, most every woman) had at least one ribbon dress in their closet in the 40's/50's. Why you ask??? Well, I don't know but I have a good guess that with all the incredibly structured fashions of the time, women wanted a dress that was actually comfortable while still being stylish. We are so spoiled these days with all our stretch fabrics and oversized clothing! Just imagine the "ah" from the ruby red lipsticked lips of these women on the days they wore their ribbon dress. Though they probably wore the girdle anyway! :) All ribbon dress... please look at the close-up photos to see the intricate design. Details are worked in just by changing the ribbon design at round neckline and waist. Original ribbon belt. Side metal zipper. You will need a slip under, but you can make that as daring or sedate as you wish. Excellent condition. Measures: 38" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 42" hips, 30" long from waist to hem, 18" from shoulder to waist.

#2838 - c. 1950's CHARLES WARNER ORIGINAL Dark Plum Wool Dress with Matching Bolero! The color is not as plum as you see...it's darker, photos are lightened to see details. I can't tell you how often I thought about this dress! I saw it at an antique show once and loved it. However, at that moment, I was called away in an emergency (ok, less dramatic than you think, but still, if I hadn't left that that very minute, the marriage might have been over! I was a bit later than I should have been already! Get the picture?) Anyway, then I saw it again! Months later! She must have been waiting for me! So... here she is! Dress has small cap sleeves and high empire waistline with pretty black beaded medallion at center. Matching, fully lined bolero has 3/4" cuffed sleeves. and wonderful gathering at center for attention at the right area! Measures: 34-36" bust (I'd suggest a high perky breasts for best fit), easy waist, up to 39" hips (though smaller would allow the skirt to hang better with the pleated seams), 38" long from shoulder to hem, with another 4" hem. Partially lined at waist. Well-made, likely cashmere blend wool! Only issues are a few missing dangle beads missing, but you can move a few around to look more perfect Back metal zipper. Lovely!

#3874a - c. early 1970's HELEN ROSE, MGM Hollywood Designer Floral Silk Organza Halter Gown! When I got married (for the first time) in 1974, I had my bridesmaids wear a similar looking gown... but, believe me... they didn't hold a candle to this lovely Helen Rose gown. Something about a well-designed designer gown... the look is timeless... as opposed to my bridesmaid gowns which, well... Anyway, you can read about Helen Rose at: http://www.antiquedress.com/item2179.htm). You will then know that this was an expensive gown in the early 70's. Could even be from her last consumer line "Helen Rose Couture" collection in 1972. Originally sold at the Alice Weiser shop in Beverly Hills. The ruffled halter neck echoes the large ruffled lower skirt which follows up and around to create a bustle-like ruffled skirt back! Fully lined with a hot pink soft silk under the sheer floral organza. Back zipper. Measures: 34" bust, 24" waist, 58" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition.

#3932 - c. 1960's Black Cotton/Wool Fine Knit and Metallic Sundress! Yeah, I know, I wonder myself how I can call a cotton/wool (I think) knit dress a sundress. But it's the shape that evokes the feel of the sundress... but you might not want to wear it in 90+ degree weather. Great open weave material with gold metallic threads travelling through. Edged in a thin band of black velvet at neckline and a wide attached "belt" of black velvet at waist which ends in a back bow. Measures: 33/34" bust, 24/25" waist. Side metal zipper. Shown with a crinoline, but you could use an even poufier one. It's a "wow, that's a pretty dress" in person!

#3556 - c. 1930's Rare "Bonnie Parker" Dusty Rose Crocheted Knit 2-piece Fancy Day Dress! You know... Bonnie Parker of Bonnie and Clyde? Or do you prefer to imagine the less larcenous Claudette Colbert? Either woman was famous for this tight sweater dressing! Now, I have to confess, I didn't take the photos of this dress since my mannequin has no legs... and without them, the knit skirt just wouldn't hang correctly. I suppose it's the same thing with the arms as well. But I'm pleased you can see how it's supposed to look. Simply smashing! The needlework is amazing...so beautifully done. The color is a dusty rose. Wide, ribbed and ruffled collar. Keyhole neckline closes with a single snap (has four tiny loops --meant for buttons?). Net-like crochet work is very delicate. Long, full sleeves end in a covered button cuff. Ribbed waistband. Slim, curvy, figure-hugging skirt is quite long. There is a narrow elastic band at the waist. Hemline is detailed with 2 inch band of fancy crochet. Overall, the sweater and skirt are in Excellent condition with only tiny snags, but nothing important. Measures: SKIRT - 26" waist (will stretch to about 36"), 32" hips (will stretch to 42"), 36" in length. SWEATER:14" across the shoulders, 25" sleeves, 34" bust (should fit up to a 38"), 25" waist (will stretch to about 36"), 20" in length from shoulder to waist.

#3851 - c. Vintage Men's (or Ladies) Mexican Mariachi / Charro Outfit From The Iron Eyes Cody Estate! Iron Eyes Cody was a Native American Indian actor who was in many of the old Western movies... and you may remember him especially from the classic 1960's anti-litter television commercial at the end of which a tear drops from the eye of an American Indian. That commecial has been named the 16th best commercial of all times! The "Charro" is actually a Mexican cowboy outfit with tight fitting trousers trimmed down the sides with a double row of gold or silver buttons called "plata". Mariachi musicians have made this outfit famous. According to the information I read, the "Trage de Charro" is a tribute to the Mexican male, his taming of the horse and of the land... and is a revered symbol of Mexican strength and masculinity. This suit is made of heavy (and scratchy) black wool trimmed in amazing white soutache design all over jacket and down the sides of the pants. The jacket fits my size 40R husband, or will fit a Women's Size 12/14 at 40" bust. For the man, the pants... well, I know they are meant to fit tight.. but geez those legs are tight, even on my skinny legged hubby ... but the ass will leave him plenty of room to move. For a woman, the butt fits better (or perhaps it's just my J-lo butt) and the pants measure a VERY tall size of: 34" long inseam, 34" at waist.. but waist is a tall 18" above mid-crotch, so the waist will be very high on the ribcage. The pants are fun, but it's the jacket that you should be loving!
