He and his partner Harry Cohen made silent films, including "Webs of Steel" and "Sgt. Mulligan". MR's wife, Bess Wright, owned her own seamstress shop and was just as well-known as Edith Head for her marvelous designs! You can still see the work of Bess Wright Schlank at the Smithsonian Institute and periodically other museums around the country! Priced accordingly to honor the designer... and for the museum design quality. Not really a jacket as the "sleeves" are not really sleeves... they are long openings (actually interesting as it fits like a sling.. your elbows are cradled and your arm comes out the opening. You can also wear with your arms totally inside the cape. Triple swing back, wide "sleeves", and wonderful curved design at front bottom. A very wide 18"-20" across the back (hard to tell as there are no seams at back, and 22" across shoulders, 30" long from back neck to hem. As always, best to get a new used fur coat cleaned and glazed to look their best, however Excellent condition. Also Listed in the Museum Section. Approx. - SIZE 14/16ish

Worthy of an Egyptian high priestess! This is McFadden at her best... from her top Couture line. Please take a look at the close-up photos so you can see all the beaded and embroidered detailing of the bodice and neck, sleeve and hip banding. Includes: Sequins; metallic threads; embroidery; clear, aurora, gold beads; gold metallic and sea green colored rope detail, etc., etc. The gorgeous gold color skirt is created from her signature Marii fabric, a technique she developed for pleating synthetics into tight, narrow pleats which is nearly indestructible and evokes Mario Fortuny's early 1900's pleated silk. Her designs draw from the past. McFadden is quoted as "always looking for the ancient and mysterious", and many of her designs clearly use Egyptian, Indian, and Greek for influence. Sarah Jessica Parker was recently spotted wearing an electric blue pleated velvet McFadden.. so you KNOW McFadden's will soon be HOT HOT HOT again! Excellent condition. Measures: 34" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 40" hips, 55" long from shoulder to hem. The neckline is high and slightly padded shoulders. Lined in a gauze. Click on image for additional photos!#3785 - c. 1990's GALANOS Silk Butterfly Dress with Matching Gauze Chiffon Coat! Designed by one of the most popular American Designers of the mid-century, GALANOS of Beverly Hills dubbed "America's couturier". Using couture standard dressmaking techniques which made his pieces expensive. James Galanos worked in Hollywood with John Louis head of costume design at Columbia Pictures, and showed in first collection in 1953 which won him the coveted Coty award in 1954. Average price of his clothes in the 50's was $400! NOTE: I'm guessing as to the decade of this outfit. It's nearly timeless, so it could easily be from the 60's or 70's as well! This gorgeous two-piece outfit is created from an unbelievable, stunning silk gauze chiffon butterfly print. There is a lined silk chiffon sheath dress and matching sheer silk gauze chiffon coat with inset panels in skirt to create a flouncy hem. The coat closes with two sets of string ties, the sleeves are cut on the bias and the cuffs are completely hand smocked and zip closed. (This coat can easily be worn with many other items under for a multitude of looks!). Many of the features are hand sewn, the entire coat is finished with french seams and delicate bias trim, the dress with sideseam zipper. Near Mint condition. Measurements: 34/35" bust (best for A/B cup), 28/29" waist, up to 36" hip, 38" long from shoulder to hem with additional 5" hem in dress. Approx. - SIZE 4/6

There are many beaded shell tops around as every well-dressed woman had a few in her closet in the 1960's. However, some women were richer than others, and those women shopped at the best stores... Saks Fifth Avenue being one! Now, I was told that this top was purchased at Saks in 1965 in San Francisco for $350! I can't confirm that at all...... but obviously the woman who owned this remembered that it was a very expensive item when originally purchased! Fully fringed hipline with beads. Lovely gentle diamond design of iridescent sequins, beads and rhinestones. Silk lined. Measures: 36" bust, 39/40" hips, 22" long from shoulder to bottom of fringe. Excellent condition! This one screams Ann-Margaret! Approx. - SIZE 10

Wide shawl collar creates an attached capelet. Buttons up the back with fabric covered buttons. Two large hip patch pockets. 1/2 length sleeves. Originally had a belt, but looks fine without. Measures: 34" bust, 25" waist, up to 36" hips, 28.5" long from waist to hem (plus 5" hem). Excellent condition, with just some minor surface dirt on the skirt (like it was swept on a dusty floor), so you may want to dry-clean. The perfect classic black dress to dress up or wear as is! I'm not very good at naming fabrics, but someone else called this bombazine. It's a heavy silk. Great halter neckline with collar and sexy low back with interesting backstrap placement. A-line gown. The gown zips up side and is lined in navy silk. Comes with the matching cutaway bolero lined in a bright lemon yellow silk faille for pizzazz! Measures: 40" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 42" hips, 54" from back of collar to hem. Excellent condition, could just use a snap or two on the back straps for neatness, otherwise near perfect. If you have an audience with a Rajah, you might consider wearing this suit if you don't look all that good in a sari! Stunning! Opulent in an exotic way. Simply cut. The suit consists of a long collarless jacket and a short matching skirt in the most amazing, unique textile. Gold metallic thread embroidered in an oriental pattern on fine net, backed in silk voile. The edges of the jacket are finished in the most extravagant trim consisting of large crystal baguettes, faux pearls and tiny crystal beads. Measures: 34-36" bust (though no stretch in fabric, so the back feels tight, so I'd suggest if you are a 36" bust, that it's more "upfront" than a wide back. The skirt is 30" at lower waist, 35" hips, 17" long skirt (short). The skirt is in desperate need of a walking slit so you may need a tailor for that. Has shoulder pads to help shape. Sheer lining under the gold metallic lace, so you may want to wear a camisole or blouse under. Excellent condition. Best for a woman with small bum and larger top (not good for an hourglass shape). Don't believe the Size 12 label!!! McFadden Couture jeweled suits and gowns easily cost over $5,000 new!! Approx. - SIZE 6 ish (best for large top, small hips!)

Yeah, there are lots of beaded sweaters out there, but first off, I love the ones with fitted waists (they are earlier than the 60's cardigans which are longer). Second, have you ever seen a nicer one? Winter white knit with thousands of tiny white glass beads all intricately woven in a floral lace design both front and back! Also a beaded collar!! Scattering of beads on cuff and bottom edge of sweater. Faux pearl buttons. The sweater is lined under the knit, but unlined under the lace, so you will need something under... or not! :) There are no tags, but it's not 100% cashmere, likely it's a cashmere/wool blend. Excellent condition. I had to search hard to find 3 tiny (pinhead size) marks on one sleeve, two near elbow and one further down. Beading is in near mint condition. Approx. - SIZE Small

Click on image for additional photos!#3637 - c. 1960's PAULINE TRIGERE Turquoise Blue Wool Evening Coat Encrusted with Rhinestones! Should be in the museum section! This is one of the few items I will guarantee to be of a certain designer even without a label. I have seen enough Pauline Trigere's in my life to know that this is HER... I know from the type of rhinestones and wool tailoring that nobody else can copy. Even down to the quality of the heavy wool. You will have to trust me, unless you are as knowledgeable as I (ah-hem!), and you know it's a Trigere as well. Scrumptious color of bright turquoise. The entire neckline, yoke and upper sleeves are lavished with glass rhinestones in every conceivable shape and size. All of these fantastic sparkling stones are in pristine condition, with no darkening, so they catch the light incredibly. The coat itself is soft, very high quality wool (possibly with some cashmere content). Fully lined. Comes with a matching turquoise blue silk scarf from Paris. Excellent condition with the exception of some very light fading down the top of the shoulders down the top of the sleeves. It may be just old dust from hanging on a hanger.. and may get better.. but I haven't dry-cleaned the coat to attempt. It's perfectly wearable the way it is. Measurements won't help much, but I'm a size 6 and this is just a slight bit too large, hence....a size 8. Measures about 37/38" bust, 37" long from shoulder to hem. Approx. - SIZE 8

Click on image for additional photos!#3641 - c. 1950's HERBERT SONDHEIM Gold Lame Evening Coat! If you take a look through some old Vogue Magazines, you will see that Herbert Sondheim was a top label of the era. Likely very expensive. I had one Sondheim dress in the past, and that was extraordinarily well-made, so no surprise to see this amazing gold lame coat with that label!! Like liquid gold, the most incredible, drapy gold lame fabric in the "new look" shaping. Also has a huge shawl collar that is actually a hood! The coat has a swingy circle skirt with lots of tiny gathers below the waistline, bodice overlaps and snaps at the waist. Sleeves are full with wide split cuffs. The silky lining is a creamy gold. The coat could easily be altered by moving a snap at the waist. Measures: 46" long from shoulders to hem, 30" long from waist to hem., up to 39" bust, 28" waist, and 100" around the swingy skirt. Excellent condition, but for the original belt which is missing.., and if you are picky, the hem of the lining only is a tiny bit dirty. Make an entrance! This is a High Fashion Coat! I dare you to find another! Approx. - SIZE 6 - 10/12 (with snap moved)
