In 1981 he launched his first collection. Probably best know for his body-hugging curvaceous stretch outfits made of lycra, but if you don't quite have the perfect liposuctioned body, perhaps you'd prefer an Alaia suit? Extremely fitted style jacket at the waist and hips, but slightly oversized at the top (to accentuate the waist even more!), wide shoulders, diagonal line of buttons down front, wide pronounced lapels. Sleeves are straight, but fairly full. Measures: 34/35" bust, 27" waist, 35" hips, 20" long skirt, 23.5" sleeve from outside shoulder seam to cuff (fairly long). Do NOT hope to get on a bus in this skirt!!! You can barely walk in it! It's a complete wiggle walk skirt as it's only 34" around hemline! Excellent condition. Well tailored. Exaggerated shape... just what you would expect from Alaia! Approx. - SIZE 4/6 (small hips)

Changeable sari silk in a purple/blue hue with silver woven embroidery in all the right places. Back metal zipper. With original belt. Measures: 38" bust, 30" waist, 26" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition with minor pulls and if you look closely, a couple of minor small spots, but damn it's gorgeous!! Also Listed in the Dupont / Special Category. Approx: - SIZE 8/10

Click on image for additional photos!#6208 - c. 1950's HAYETTE, New York Pink Linen Embroidered Sundress! Sold at The Window Shop, Cold Spring Harbor, LI, NY. Waaah! Too small for me :( Barely even fits onto the mannequin and she is 33" bust, 24" waist, so you will need to be one of those waif-like girls to wear this as is... OR... if you love it enough, get creative at the back with grommets and lacing (corset-like) or some other interesting back detail to make it fit. I lived in the next town to Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, NY growing up, so I remember this shop, I think. Measures: 32/33" bust, 23" waist, 38" long from shoulder to hem, 23" long from waist to hem (slightly long-waisted). Excellent condition. Unlined to keep you cool (or as cool as you can be in a mid-weight linen). Back metal zipper. The embroidery is quite lovely. You better buy it soon before my crash diet works and I fit into it! :) Approx. - SIZE 0/2

And to make it worse, I have a "thing" for Black & White that you may have noticed! :) So what have we here... a great simple, but sweet strapless black pindotted white cotton dress with a tiny ruffle at upper bust, a wide plain waistband which gets tied up with the attached black sash, and full skirt with a great change up of material direction at the lower third! Fully lined in cotton as well, with minor boning. 4-layers of skirting crinolines. Comfy for those hot summer days. Back zipper. Wear the sash a few different ways (as you see). Mint condition. Click on image for additional photos!#3912 - c. 1950 RARE, EARLY ORIGINAL EMILIO (PUCCI) SPORTSWEAR, Capri, Italy label Black and Silver Heavy Brocade Sunsuit! I love the bio for Emilio Pucci! Born a Marchese from an aristocratic noble Florentine family, Emilio earned a doctorate in political science, served as a career pilot for the Italian Air Force and was member of the Italian Olympic Ski Team! According to his bio, in 1947 while skiing one day on the slopes of St. Moritz, a reporter from Harper's Bazaar noticed Pucci and his outfit. After taking some photos, the editor discovered that Pucci had designed his own skiwear, and invited him to create some pieces for a photo session about winter fashion. Pucci's designs were featured in the winter 1948 magazine. In 1949, Pucci opened his first shop in Capri with his first collection in 1950. As the first member of his family to work in a thousand years, he spared his family's vanity by signing his designs simply "Emilio". His first pieces (like this one) were sewn personally by Emilio from his small Capri studio! He designed casual wear, and introduced the new "Capri pants" which took the fashion world by storm. It's possible this label only existed for a couple years (still researching that). By the 1960's, Pucci's colorful wild fabrics we a fashion staple... and the Pucci look we all know today. The fabric is a surprisingly heavy stiff silver on black brocade. The bra/bandeau top is strapless, and comes up into little points at the top of each bust, with boning and button back (has some hooks at top, so there might have been a removable halter strap). The shorts have a heavy metal side zipper. The label is Emilio's Made in Italy with a little Mountain with Capri under it, with "46". Measures: Any size bust as the buttons can be moved to fit!), 27" waist, up to 39" hips, 15" long shorts on sides, 16" long at crotch. Excellent, near mint condition. This is a rare, and unusual vintage find for a Pucci collector, so don't miss out! MUSEUM collectable! Approx. - SIZE 6/8

I had this dress listed incorrectly, but I just saw the same dress (actually gown) at auction (note: that gown sold for $840) with the original Mollie Parnis label. So... since it was the exact duplicate, we have to assume that this is, indeed, a Mollie Parnis, New York. Top-quality beading and embroidery detailing on netting, Rich looking! Metallic threads of silver and gold, pink silk embroidery, silver and clear bugle beads, amber and and clear crystals. Comes with the nude jersey slip. Gorgeous!! Measures: up to 38" bust, up to 40" hips, 44" long from shoulder to hem. Get creative and wear with a ribbon belt for slightly different look. Note, I stuffed the sleeve bottoms with tissue paper... so it looks slightly different in the photo only. Interesting hemline which accentuates the netting. Snap back. MUCH prettier in person!! Excellent condition, except for some beading missing on sleeve ends. You can fill in with just about any sparkly beading and it will suffice (not perfect, so if you are a perfectionist... I'd suggest something else). However if you want a sparkly gorgeous dress... well.... this is one of those dresses you can just sit and stare at and never get tired of it! Approx. - SIZE 8/10

# 4805 - c. 1945 CASA DRESDEN, Cochabamba Dark (nearly black) Navy Wool Suit with Tie Belt and Gray Persian Lamb Trim! Ok.. here's your geography lesson for the day. And you just thought this was a vintage clothing website! :) Cochabamba is a city in central Bolivia. As I read "the city is known for its moderate climate and often called Bolivia's "Resort City", "Garden City" or "City of Eternal Spring". Sounds great... but then WHAT did this highly fashionable woman need such a heavy winter suit for???? Can anyone say "Global Warming??" Looks like Al Gore is on the right track... must be a heck of a lot warmer there now! So now think Eva Peron to evoke the glamour of this great fashionable suit. Interesting seaming detailing on jacket, with the lovely gray persian lamb trim on deep pockets, lapels and those "star trek" decorative inverted "v"s at upper chest. Simple basic side metal zipper skirt with back kick pleat. Fully lined jacket. Skirt measures: 25" waist, 36/37" hips, 27" long from waist to hem. Jacket is nearly impossible to measure as it's a wrap style... the bust could fit up to 38" bust likely, and no closures at the waist, it's 14" across back between armseams, 16" across shoulders, 25" long from back neck to hem. Excellent condition. Go vintage and wear with ankle strap shoes and red lipstick, or go modern and wear great jacket with jeans! Great look! Rare label. Approx. - Size 6

This may have been one of the last dresses designed by Wilson Folmar as he designed from 1936-1972. Per vintagefashionguild.org: Starting as head designer for prestigious department store Jay-Thorpe, he went on to design for Edward Abbott in 1957 and then on to his own company in 1964 producing medium to high priced cocktail and evening clothes (price ranging from $150 - $1500!!!! - in the late 1960's-early 70's a huge mansion could cost only $100K!!!!). Quite an interesting dress! The cuffs and hemline and edge of the small matching triangular shawl are like a fabric fringe, but more like cutouts. Oh heck, just look at the photos. I can't possibly describe with my limited vocabulary! Nor will I try to describe the print. But I will tell you that this dress gives you a lovely cleavage with it's low rounded neckline and curved empire waistband. Measures: 33/34" bust, 27" high waistline, 46" long from shoulder to dress bottom with additional 4.5" "fringe" which makes for a long sleeve length. Scarf measures 44" x 18". Fits tightly under the arms (as was the style of the time). Back metal zipper. Excellent condition with just one line of dirt at upper back (shown in photo - try to find it!). Approx. - SIZE 4

For some reason makes me think of Grace Kelly. Can't tell you why, or what she wore that was similar... but I have some image in the back of my mind. Anyway.... Donald Brooks is becoming more and more a collectable label. This dress is in Near Mint condition. Black nubby, fairly substantial weight linen with silk lining. Wide box pleating on skirt and gathered waist covered with thin tie belt. Button back upper and zipper lower. The decoration is heavy circles of cording around neckline and waistline. Measures: 34" bust, 24" waist, 38"+ hips, 23.5" long from waist to hem. Silk lined. The interior waistband measures 22", but you don't need to close that.. and who could? :) ! Approx. - SIZE 2

There are no labels in this dress, but it's the same quality good-weight linen and the white lace bodice is elegant and lined with nude material ... and the shape is certainly lady-like and regal enough to make me wonder if indeed it was owned by the Queen as well. No guarantees, but seems a good possibility! Measures: 36" bust, up to 27.5" waist, 29.5" ribcage (top of waistband), 41" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition. Approx. - SIZE 6/8

From the 1959 pages of Vogue Magazine, 23-year-old Patrick de Barentzen was described as "the daring young man of the Italian couture whose collection is full of dash, fun and ideas". He quickly rose as a darling of Italian designers along with the likes of Galitzine, Valentino, Simonetta, Fabiani, Capucci, Fontana, and Forquet. Couture quality tailoring. The inside is as pretty as the outside! Black textured heavy silk material (which I was told was peau-de-cygne. So I looked it up for you... "a very soft satin fabric, woven in fine soft yarns with a lustrous finish". Yup... it's peau-de-cygne!) evening gown designed with an interesting tailored "tiered" effect. Fishtail at back and tulip shape at front of hemline gives one the impression of a mermaid. Great for the fisherman in your life! :) Might be the only way to attract his attention unless you can grow gills. Back metal zipper. Measures: 31/32" bust, 25" waist, up to 37" hips, 39" long from natural waist in front, 46" long in back (fishtail). Excellent condition. Approx. - SIZE 2 (small bust)

Superb maroon (though I call it red plum as that's the closest I can come to the right color!) velvet bias cut evening gown with long sleeves, upper sleeves puffed, with lower sleeve tightly buttoned (11 buttons on each!), small ruffle at neck. There is actually a very subtle stripe to the velvet making it look even more impressive. The bodice is seamed to accentuate the bustline. The gown hugs your curves and will drive him wild as he attempts to imagine what you look like with the dress off rather than on! :) Very good condition, though there seems to be a tear at the side. Size you ask??? Well... since it's bias, it will stretch to fit a variety of bodies.. So.. if you are interested in this dress, please just email me your measurements (no cheating... get out the tape measure!) and I will let you know how it will work on you. FINAL COLLECTION! Here's your ONLY chance to buy THE gown you saw coming down the runway on Bravo's hit show "Project Runway". Designed by Season 2 winner, Chloe... this was by far (in my opinion), the best looking gown of the entire season! Purchased directly from Bravo TV, this gown still has the double stick tape inside the bust to keep it looking great on the model (as left) as she sashayed down the catwalk, AND comes with the original two goldtone bangle bracelets. The tailoring of this gown is totally professional. The material is fabulous! A green woven cotton gauze chiffon lined in glorious feeling silk with tulip embroidery and clear sequin/beads for just a hint of glitter. Empire waist with low cleavage front and back. Two long flowing "tails" at back to flutter along with the hem of the gown as you walk. Looks amazing on as long as you have small cup size breasts. If my breasts were smaller, I would keep this in a heartbeat! Measures: 33" bust, 25" waist, 62" long from shoulder to hem. NOTE: INVESTMENT PIECE! Imagine owning Calvin Klein's first collection piece.. or Donna Karan, or Ralph Lauren... or any top designer! Who knows what future value this dress may have if Chloe "makes it big"! Tomato red silk twill in a striking floral pattern of pinks and greens. Wide scoop neckline, shore sleeves, fitted bodice to stiffened bubble skirt studded with bows. The skirt is surprisingly padded!! ... gives it some bulk. The shoulders are fairly wide, so if you have narrow shoulders (like me), may not stay on all that well. If you lengthen back to original length (3" longer) the bubble of the skirt will be more pronounced. As it is, it's just a slight bubble shape. Your choice! Back metal zipper. Excellent condition. Click on image for additional photos!# 4580 - c. 1980's (attributed to) EAVIS & BROWN, London Mocha Silk Chiffon Gown Encrusted with Beads, Rhinestones, Sequins, etc.! This gown comes directly from the historic Chew family of Cliveden Mansion, in the Germantown area of N.W. Philadelphia, PA since 1763. The mansion is now part of the National Trust. So you can't have the mansion.. but you can have the gown! Obviously they had the money to buy the best, and I knew this was a quality gown, but there is no label.... however, in my research, I found an Eavis & Brown gown of the same design, so.... I can pretty much say for sure it's Eavis & Brown. Great mocha colored silk chiffon with every square inch covered with beads, rhinestones, or sequins! Egyptian in design with large trompe o'oeil belt and buckle! Fully lined. The photos were taken with the wide 1980's shoulder pads still attached... however, I removed them to make sure it was possible to wear with more modern shape, and indeed... it's perfect without the pads! So... the dress is even more perfectly beautiful now! Has a great rounded slit at front of skirt matching the cuffline. Excellent condition.. I see only two beads missing near one shoulder! They may be more, but those are the only two spotted. Hidden back zipper. Measures: 36" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 38" hips, 59" long from shoulder to hem. Approx. - Size 8

Click on image for additional photos!# 2854 - c. 1950's Black Velvet One-Shouldered Gown with Black Drop Beading and Attached Shawl! I have kept this in my personal closet for years!! I just couldn't bear to sell it. I kept hoping that my hips would somehow miraculously shrink and I could comfortably wear this gown. However, I have finally come to the realization that unless I remove my wide hipbones... it's never gonna happen. No matter how thin I get (within reason), I will never have less than 37" hips... and this dress needs 36" hips. I can get the gown on, and I can stand in front of the mirror and enjoy looking at myself in it... but can't sit, so I guess that's that. The gown is now available to one of you lucky thin-hipped gals. Waaahhhhh! The gown is a soft black velvet, one shouldered thin sheath gown with fitted waistline a well as empire seaming with fabulous heavy black drop beading off of heavy black gimp braiding on the empire bodice AND on the edge of the attached shawl!!! A unique design. You can let the shawl hang straight down the back behind right sleeve... or meant to be worn over the left arm as shown. Measures: 34/35" bust, 26" waist, 36" hips. Approx. - SIZE 4, small hipped 6

Click on image for additional photos!# 4449 - c. 1980's VERA WANG Black Satin Gown with Black Net Upper Back and "Overskirt"! This gown is FAB.. great black satin material, low "v" neckline with teeny lapels, fitted bodice, totally "naked" upper back of netting only. Slim skirt with the attached overskirt at the back!! I always buy these gowns with the overskirts .. they are my particular favorite. Very Audrey Hepburn in "Sabrina". Measures: 34" bust, 26" waist, up to 38" hips, 39" long from waist to hem. There are 3 tiny breaks in the netting.. one at side waist, on a mid back that I can't seem to find again, and the worst one at the back of one shoulder. I would probably have a seamstress just add a few stitches to the break at the side, and then I would cover the shoulder hole with a black (or heck, colored) applique or flower. It would actually add interest! AND cover the problem. Easily done. Just use some of your imagination.. oh and while you are at it.. can you PLEASE imagine that I pressed this gown???? So Sorry... I was in a rush, but you get the idea (I hope).. the wrinkles WILL come out!... oh and also, the back zipper WILL close all the way,,, just not on my hunchback mannequin (don't tell her I called her that! She might sic a lawsuit on me!!). Approx. - SIZE 4/6

Click on image for additional photos!#9914 - c. 1980's AURELIE MARCIANO, Paris Pastel Beaded Silk Satin Fantasy Wedding Gown or Ballgown! The most incredible white silk satin ballgown delicately covered in pink, light blue, gold, copper, white, silver and clear sead beads in a floral vine design. Fantasy gown shape with flattering "v" dropped waistline, large puffed sleeves, "v" neckline, and openfront skirt. Think Cinderella's ballgown, or a Princess Renaissance gown ... or Glinda's Wizard of Oz gown! All you need is a tall crowned hat and wand! This is NOT a cheap knock-off of a gown. In order to confirm that to you, I did a Google search for Aurelie Marciano, Paris. What popped up is a bit of an interesting fashion history lesson. Seems when Vera Wang was looking for a new career in 1990, she opened a bridal salon carrying the best of the best of wedding gowns. The high-class salon carried her own designs as well as special gowns by other top designers such as Carolina Herrera, Victor Edelstein, Scaasi and Aurelie Marciano! In a New York Times article from Sept 5, 1990, it reads: "Many dresses in the salon are highly ornamental.... The idea is to have merchandise you can't find elsewhere. One of Victor Edelstein's designs is an off-the shoulder column of peau-de-soie with a bouffant overskirt ($27,500). A more typical wedding dress is a full-skirted Marciano design of tissue-thin white damask with flowers and beadwork covering the bodice for $11,000. Again these are 1990 prices!!! With inflation... likely well over $25,000 for a Marciano gown with this much beading!!!! Excellent condition with only one flaw... a spot on one shoulder puff (see photos). You can try to see if a cleaner can get it out, or pinch a little of the puff and tack so it disappears, or cover with a bead or two or bow. Otherwise, the gown is near Mint condition with even all the beading intact! Shown with an extra crinoline under (doesn't come with it). Back zipper. I doubt you will ever find another gown that even comes close if this is the style you are seeking. Measures: 36" bust, up to 29" waist, 57" long from shoulder to hem with extra 3" under hem. Also listed in the Wedding Category. Approx. - SIZE 8/10
