#6438 - c. 1990's CHRISTIAN LACROIX (?) Red Plum Colored Trapunto and Embroidered Dinner Suit!  My "profession" opinion that this is a Christian Lacroix suit for three reasons. 1) It has original Made in Italy labels still inside, 2) There is an outline on the lining of the jacket in the exact same shape as the uniquely large Lacroix label , and 3) It's certainly has the right Lacroix look! SO... I'll bet you I'm right! :)  It almost doesn't matter what the label as the suit is so beautiful that the designer label isn't necessary to know the quality! A gorgeous red plum color with full trapunto treatment (quilted look!).  The large pockets and upper back are embroidered with metallic gold and red, greens, and white for the flowers.  Nice jeweled button at uniquely shaped neckline.  Great seaming at shoulders and at waistline.  Pencil skirt.  Wear together as a suit, or separately.  Measures:  34-36" bust, 25" waist skirt, 18" long skirt, 25" long jacket.  Small shoulder pads. Near mint condition.

#6081 - c. 1980's ARNOLD SCAASI Metallic Print Strapless Ballgown! When looking for designer duds, always try to find the best labels from those designers.  For Scaasi... look for the full "Arnold Scaasi" label (as you see), not just Scaasi.  Scaasi opened his ready-to-wear line in 1956, and won the Coty Fashion award in 1958.  However a few years later he dropped his ready-to-wear line and decided to just focus on his high fashion made-to-order pieces... opening his couture salon in 1964.  He dressed Barbra Streisand, Ivana Trump, Lauren Bacall, Elizabeth Taylor and Mary Tyler Moore among others, and designed Barbara Bush's 1989 inaugural gown now at the Smithsonian. This is one of those high quality gowns!  In a gorgeous pink and gray coloration of a metallic silk fabric with ribbon design feature.  And that bustline!!  Like old ribbon candy... and may help a smallish bust to look larger! Slightly dropped waistline gives just about anyone an hourglass figure.  Stunning.  Near Mint condition.  My favorite description of Arnold Scaasi is that of "ballgownmeister"!! Measures: 34/35" bust, 24/25" waist, 45" long from natural waistline to hem. Metal back zipper. Fully lined in pink silk. Likely an $8,000-$10,000 gown new!

#6331 - c. 1980's TRAVILLA Incredible Black Chenille Dinner Suit Trimmed in Fluffy White Norwegian Fox!  Oh god, this is one of those pieces that is nearly impossible for me to let go!  Fits me like it was made for me (even though I'm more 33" bust, 26" waist, 37" hips - still perfect - obviously not me, what kind of pear am I! :(   Waaahhhh!!  I always wondered what women wore that made them look like a million (of course these days that has to be billion) dollars... this is one of those! Slip on the skirt and put on the jacket and that's all you need.  OK, and stiletto pumps. Measures: 36" bust, 28" waist, 31" long jacket, 36/37" hips, 22" long skirt from waist to hem with 2" extra in hem. Excellent, near Mint condition with the only issue that it was likely hemmed up and should probably be re-hemmed.  I'm sure this cost more than this when new, as I have a Saks Fifth Avenue catalog from 1991 with a simple white silk Travilla dinner dress for $900!!  And that's back in 1991 dollars!!  For a silly little dress!!  You know, of course, that Marilyn Monroe was the muse for Travilla... and perhaps her most famous, iconic white halter "subway grate" dress was his...  So this is certainly a designer you want to wear!

#6064 - c. 1950's Black Taffeta Fitted Dress with Soutache Embroidered Hemline with Black Tassels Over Rose Velvet!! This is one of those dresses pretty enough for you to figure out how to make it fit you!  It's a small size, unfortunately, but WOW!  Black silk taffeta dress with scoop neckline, and wide inset waist.  Even if that was all that was going for it, it would be  pretty enough... but, in addition... the lower skirt is covered with black soutache and studded with black faceted beads. NICE!  Oh, and then... ta da... the best part of this dress... the tiny black silk tassels over the rose colored velvet at the hemline! Unique and sweet!  Or sweetly unique! :)  As you can see by the last photo... the dress is so small it wouldn't close on the size 2 mannequin... so again, if you want this dress, you will have to get creative at the back by adding material, or using matching rose velvet to create some kind of laced-up back.  Something.  Anything.  Or if you are really lucky... this will fit the way it is!  Get out that tape measure girls... and no cheating.  Measures: 35" bust, 26" underbust, 23" waist, 25" long from waist to hem.  Excellent condition with just a bit of white dust underarms. Metal zipper at back.  Attached net crinoline under.

#6033 - c. 1960's JOBERE by ANTHONY MUTO White Ribbon Ruffle Edge Cutout Dress with Matching Coat! Dress Like Michelle Obama! :)  Hard to find Anthony Muto earlier works from the 1960s... like this!  Anthony Muto designed gowns for several first ladies including Barbara Bush, Rosalynn Carter, Pat Nixon and Lady Bird Johnson. You'll find his pieces featured in museums exhibits including at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.   The dress and coat are exactly the same....a white ribbon 3-diamentional ruffle design with sheer diamond cutouts. The dress is lined in a nude crepe to appear, well... nude.  The coat is lined in a sheer gauze bone color. So they don't match exactly... that allows the dress to be more nude in appearance, and the coat to be more elegant.. so it looks like you are wearing the coat over perhaps a peek-a-boo dress. Wear together or separately to expand your wardrobe. Excellent, near mint condition with just a hint of light spot at back seat of coat and front bottom of dress (see photos - if you can't see the slight yellowing in the photos, it's because that's how insignificant it is!) .  Measures: 34/35" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 40" hips, 39" long from shoulder to hem both dress and coat.  Plastic zipper back.

#6489 - c. 1989-1992 VICTOR EDELSTEIN, London Silk Velvet Mermaid Gown with High Gathered Neck and Cuffs and Great Button Back!  Victor Edelstein was most closely associated with Princess Diana as he was one of her favorite designers.  As a matter of fact, one of her most famous dresses was the Victor Edelstein ink blue silk velvet gown that Diana wore in 1995 when she made that tabloid splash dancing with John Travolta at the White House!!  Even the Madame Tussauds wax statue of  Diana is said to be wearing an Edelstein!   I date this gown to 1992 as that was the first year of his ready-to-wear collection.  Prior to that it was couture/made to order only. However, Edelstein used this same deep wine silk velvet was in other dresses from 1989, so the exact date is a bit confusing. Gorgeous color and shape!! Jet buttons down back. Very good condition as there is a bit of velvet crushing at the back left upper sleeve (perhaps a shoulder bag) and a slight pulling of the seams of the back tush (see photos).  Neither of those issues are of any importance... but there is one thing to mention that is, depending on where you wear the dress.  There is a velvet "ring" (like a water ring) on the bustline which is seen under some bright lights, but completely disappears under evening lights.  So... I have photos of both.  Perhaps it's something a dry-cleaner can steam out, but whatever... it's there now.  Though when I first saw the dress, it wasn't seen at all.  Only when I photographed it under the lights....  Measures: 37/38" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 38" hips, 59" long from shoulder to hem.  Padded shoulders.  Cranberry silk lining feels great on.

#5016 - c. 1980's BILL BLASS EVENING Black "Black Tie Tux" Dress with Pearls! This could easily have been one of those fun, funky Moschino dresses from the 80's, but it's a surprising Bill Blass. Must be from the same collection as the pearl necklace Blass dress I sold recently.  The entire upper bodice is embellished with multi-sized faux pearls... along with the bottom of the dress.. and then the "pearl buttons" down front.  Super thin angel hair spaghetti straps.  Ooh, and then the 3-layered pleated super sheer ruffle at the hemline. Back zipper. Measures: 32" bust, 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 28" long to end of dress, 35" long to hemline end of ruffle. Labeled a size 6, but seems sizes have changed even from the 80's, or this was tailored. Excellent condition.

#6419 - c. 1950's ELIZABETH ARDEN, New York Red Silk Chiffon Dress with Handkerchief Overskirt!  The perfect dress for Valentine’s Day, or any day.  Have you heard the new report that claims that men are most attracted to women in red??  True!  Gorgeous red silk chiffon crepe dress with sexy, tight, double spaghetti straps of tank-top shaped bodice. Then comes the wiggle skirt with the double lengths of handkerchief hem attached overskirt!  Check out the close-up photos to see the pretty curved waistline seaming.  Back metal zipper.  Measures:  32/33” bust, 25/26” waist, up to 36" hips, 40” long from shoulder to hem.  There is a 3” hem, so the dress was likely longer originally, but I like this length.  Very good condition, but not perfect as there are some pulls in the material and some of the stress points of seams have minor pulls.  I found one spot on the front, and a bit of dirt at the hemline (under).  No one is going to inspect your dress when you are wearing it.  Rather they will just say “wow”!  The person who had this dress previously said of the dress “there is no damage of any kind”, so that just shoes how picky I am!! Looks SO pretty on! The overskirt moves with you.  OOH! J

#6490 - c. 1992/93 BRUCE OLDFIELD COUTURE, Custom Made, London Blue Taffeta Dress with Huge Pearl Ornament at Side! I was lucky enough to be at the Princess Diana Dress Auction just prior to her death... and that was my first introduction to Bruce Oldfield who was one of Diana's favorite designers. He also designed for many other famous customers including Jerry Hall, Barbra Streisand, Catherine Zeta-Jones as well as other leading members of the British and European aristocracy. He was awarded an OBE in 1990 for his services to the fashion industry. In 1993, he decided to provide an exclusively couture service.  I can't date this dress exactly, though it reminds me so much of the famous Diana "Camillagate" dress, that I figure 1992/93 is about right. Unique blue color that can hardly be described with that great huge pearl ornament at side! Tulip hemline and long side scarf.  Wide sexy "V" neckline. Zip AND hooked back and zip cuffs. Very good condition with a few issues, minor pulls upper arm, minor spots that blend in with taffeta on sleeve, cuff, hip, scarf (see photos).  Oh, and a tiny lining waist tear - lining only!  Measures: 36/38" bust, 28" waist, up to 39" hips, 35" long shoulder to hem, 20" long skirt. Still a RARE custom couture dress!

#6442 - c. 1950's SEMONT, New York Pink and Green Floral Metallic Brocade Party Dress!  OK... I have to tell you I have an absolute passion for pink and green.  My bedroom growing up was pink walls with a green shag carpet (yes, shag was actually "in" back then!)... and Spring is my favorite time of year because of all the pink apple blossoms and magnolias and light green leaf buds.  So, you have to know just how much I love the fabric of this dress (not to mention the shape!). A gorgeous floral metallic brocade.  Fitted bodice has a huge bow covering breasts. Skirt has slight bubble shape.  Measures: 34" bust, 25/26" waist.   Fully lined. Back metal zipper. Net crinoline under is pinned on and can easily be removed if you wish.  Excellent condition. Awesome!

#5012 - c. 1980's CHRISTIAN DIOR BOUTIQUE Numbered Black Silk and Satin Evening Jacket with Huge Attached Gold and Rhinestone Cross!  I want to keep this sooo badly!  But it's too large for me.  Waaahhh! This came from a huge estate of all designer clothing from the 80s... many bought in Paris.   The black silk and satin empire jacket alone would be enough to excite me, but oooh, then the ornamental gorgeous gold and rhinestone cross with bow!  Even the great gold and rhinestone squar buttons on the sleeves.  Perfection! Excellent condition with just one minor pull on shoulder (see photos) and a slight dust smudge on front (one drycleaning is all that needs). Measures: 37/38" bust, 32" long from shoulder to hem.  Padded shoulders.

#6544 - c. late 1930's Multicolored Embroidered Black Silk Evening Bolero!  The most gorgeous bolero jacket EVER!!!  Incredible multicolored embroidery of flowers, birds and cranes, butterflies, etc. The back has slightly less embroidery just like the short sleeves.  The lapels and border trim is just the perfect design feature!  AWESOME!  If you love the look of the 1920's embroidered shawls, but want something much easier to wear, there is nothing better! Amazingly.. this has the original "Made in China" label and, I still can't believe it's not silk, but it says" cotton/linen!!!  Perhaps that's why it's in such incredible condition!! But you will swear it's silk!  I have to date this bolero based on the slightly puffed wide shoulders and often worn fashionable bolero shape worn over the slinky 1930's gowns. Tight across back is going to fit a size 0/2 the best. I have tried it on (I have a sort of small back, but wear a size 4 and it fits, but as I say, better for smaller). Near Mint condition. Measures: 15" long from shoulder to hem, 13.5" across back    Also Listed in the 1850-1930s Category.

#6338 - c. 1960's White Cotton Pique Wiggle Dress with Fabulous Red Grape Embroidery! Larger Size!  Going to a summer wine tasting party and want to wear the perfect dress? I have this love of white cotton pique. Can't even tell you why, but I guess it's something in my genes. Anyway, this white pique dress is quite special with what looks to be hand-embroidery around the "v" neckline with cut outs, and on the skirt front and back.  Stunning and sexy. Comes with the original matching sash belt which I show in the other photos. Wear with or without, or with a red belt.  Back metal zipper.  Measures: 40" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 41" hips, 24" long from waist to hem, 40" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition.  I think I saw one pinhole near the hemline, but can't find it again on quick review.  Bright white like new.  The belt looks ever so slightly dingier, so perhaps just a quick bleaching of the belt? Hardly an issue.  It's just that the whiteness of the dress is surprisingly great for a vintage dress!! Unlined cotton, so PERFECT for HOT SUMMER DAYS!

Spring/Summer 1974 Couture Christian Dior, Paris Numbered Dress and Over Blouse!  So how's this!  I found a couture Christian Dior dress from Spring/Summer 1974 - and then found a couture Dior gown from Autumn/Winter 1974! I got the whole year covered! :) This is an incredibly beautiful day dress (I usually prefer to sell only evening or party/fancy clothes as I find day clothing boring... but this sure isn't!).  A sheer navy silk faggoted top and bottom dress with pleated skirt and tied waistline with matching sheer pocketed openfront blouse or jacket with slightly bell sleeves.  Sash belt is separate. This just has that uber-rich look to it.  Just imagine her at the yacht club or lunching with the girls on Rodeo Drive.  Measures:  36/37" bust, 31-33" waist, up to 39" hips, 47" long from shoulder to hem, 30.5" long waist to hem, 26" long blouse.  Zipper and snaps at side. I have to tell you that I photoshopped the fancy rhinestone "x"s to try desperately to show you just how sparkly this dress is in person.  It's just mesmerizing!!!   Think of every word possible.. blazing, dripping, glistening... no word is good enough.  You just have to see this dress! Modern, yet vintage trapeze shape with "v" small cowl neckline.  Fine wool base and those famous Trigere flat faceted rhinestones. Measures: up to 38" bust, the rest free, 38" long from shoulder to hem. Lined in silk.  Excellent condition.  There are matching black wool insets under the armholes without rhinestones that may be original to the dress, but if not, a dressmaker can easily remove.  I just like to mention everything.  Feels great on.  Looks even better!  Belt doesn't come with the dress, just showed what you might do. #6063 - c. 1940's Made in China Orange Silk Embroidered Brocade Rayon Hostess Gown!  This was back in the old days when "Made in China" was a good thing!  This is one of the most glamorous hostess gowns I've seen! Would have been worn for an informal party at home. Fabulous heavyweight red-orange (possibly silk/rayon blend) jacquard fabric with light sage silk embroidery echoing the same design of roses and buds!  Lovely in person! Large puffy sleeves, wide midriff, pleated collar detail., smocked shoulders.  The back has ties which can be tied as tails, or create a bow with tails (see photos). The 20 buttons were moved 1" to make smaller, but you can move back to original position if you want as the marks are still there (currently hidden when worn).  Measures:  34" bust, up to 27/28" waist, up to 38" hips, 56" long from shoulder to hem... best for 5'3" in flats to touch the floor.  Excellent condition. #6077 - c. 1980's OSCAR De La RENTA Black Velvet and Royal Blue Changeable Silk Opulent Ballgown!  Oh my.... what an exquisite color combination!!  The changeable color blue silk is not as "electric blue" as it looks, but a deeper royal blue.  However under certain lights, the changeable silk will look brighter, or darker depending!  The kind of ballgown that every little Princess dreams of when a little girl.  Or, perhaps that was just me? Nah.... I know there are others like me out there! :)  Wonderful elaborate black velvet design adorns the huge puffed sleeves and the front and back of the skirt. Beautifully tailored and impeccably ornamented... I don't even know how they did it!  The design is not appliquéd, but more cut into the fabric... probably too expensive a procedure to bother with today! This was one expensive gown when new! Fitted black silk velvet bodice with dropped waistline to show off torso.  To be worn nearly off the shoulder.  Shown with extra crinoline under skirt.  Mint condition. #4264 - c. 1980's BOB MACKIE Coral Silk and Sequin and Beaded "Jessica Rabbit and Tulip" Gown! Don't even think about this unless you want to show off your breasts!!! Bob Mackie built some of his early dresses with the same understructures that enhanced the bodies of many a famous actress. If you look at the interior, you will see there are cups for the breasts that almost act as cushions. The bodice top may not fit tightly, but your breasts will be hidden in the cushioning... just ever so slightly! Really... this is a gown for those of you who prefer a bit of exhibition.. or perhaps that's just how it fit me! I just made up that name for the gown, but it fits perfectly! Bodice is a lovely concoction of sequins and beading in a abstract floral design. Please note... the gown was WAY too small on this hard-busted mannequin, so the back is open in one photo.. in the other back photo I played a bit, so you can see it closed at back, so the design back there isn't real! Just me playing! Look at the photo of the unclosed back to see the real design back there. Excellent condition with two practically invisible spots on the skirt. Back zipper. #4797 - c. 1967 SHANNON RODGERS for JERRY SILVERMAN Minty Green Silk Shantung Mod Dress with Fabulous Lattice Work Hemline! This label was established in 1959. Rodgers had previously designed for the movies, and Silverman worked at Martini designing adaptations of Paris fashions. Together they were known for their Americanized versions of Balenciaga designs with simple, elegant dresses often with a single decoration to add interest. Well... this dress certainly fits that description! :) However.. I need help. This is silk, but it's either shantung or perhaps dupioni.... has slubs in the fabric and has a great sheen. So who out there can email me the difference??? I often get my higher education from my website readers! :) What I DO know is how to find amazing dresses! This is one of those that you dream about. The color in person is killer! Perhaps a bit lighter than in the photos (depending on your monitor screen). Simple A-line shape with back zipper and the two simple bows at low front and high back. Beautifully well-made dress. Excellent condition, but it does have minor spots (see close-up photos for the three areas). They are extremely light and forgiveable and tend to get lost in the fabric sheen and slubs. You won't care once you see this gorgeous dress in person. Measures: 36" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 38" hips, 36" long from shoulder to hem. Fully lined in fine silk and feels awesome on!

#9742 - c. 1950's Tulip Shaped Pink Silk Satin Brocade Strapless Evening Gown! This is one of those gowns that you'd think would have a designer label like Elizabeth Arden or Helena Barbieri.  The material is a flattering pink on hot pink silk satin brocade which has a great sheen to it.  The bodice has the "crumb catcher" design, but can be worn three different ways (depending on how you position the horizontal crumb catcher piece). I've shown it all three ways in photos. It's a subtle difference, but a difference. And oh.. the hemline!!!  Tulip shaped and depending on your height can train a bit at back... or not.  Attached waistband has a large matching bow at front.  Back metal zipper. Excellent condition.  Measures: 35" bust, 23-25" waist (25" without using the inner waistband), up to 41" hips, 33" long from shoulder to hem in front, 43" long in back.  Certainly if the bust is too large, it can be tailored to fit.

#4502 - c. 1950's OLEG CASSINI Russet Colored Lace Dress with Original Design Patent Tag!  For those of you who have vintage clothing worthy of a museum, this dress should be added to your collection!  The design itself is, of course as you can see, fabulous... but it's the original Design Patent tag inside that is so unique!  Frankly I've not seen a tag like this on any dress before.  Perhaps it's that rare, or perhaps I'm just not looking hard enough.  I know of two other black lace Cassini dresses of the same design, so obviously the dress was produced, but perhaps this could be the original sample?  Seems slightly better as the others with the bows at straps, and the shape seems a bit more elegant. You know Oleg Cassini as the official couturier for Jackie Kennedy during her White House years.  I'm sure this design was a bit too sexy for her, but would have worked beautifully on his finance, Grace Kelly. Russet color lace in "sunburst" design skimming over a more fitted sexy russet sheathe dress with plunging bodice of nude fabric. Tie bows at shoulders and back. The condition looks Excellent in the photo, but is only Good condition, as there are small breaks in the lace under the arms (see photos) and one short lace line break on the bodice near front/side, and just "tired" overall.   Still a wonderful museum quality early Oleg Cassini dress with great tag! Measures: 34" bust, 24/25" waist, up to 36" hips, 26" long from waist to hem.  NOTE:  To keep dress is best condition, Final Sale Item!  Also listed in the Museum Category.

#6134 - c. 1960's TEAL TRAINA, New York Black Silk Dress with Matching Trapeze Shaped Sleeveless Bolero!  Yeah, I'm sure there is a better name for this kind of top... it's kind of a cape or blouse or jacket or whatever. The beauty of the dress is in the simplicity of the shape... high "v" neck, interestingly cut-in sleeveless shoulders, and elliptical waist seaming getting lower at back. The bolero is also sleeveless, button front with attached ties to tie.  Measures:  35" bust, 26" waist, 36/37" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem.  Back metal zipper. The ties on the bolero can be tied a few ways.. but I liked this best.  Lined in voile for that classy touch. Excellent condition with extremely minor dust marks which I'm sure will be made perfect with one dry-cleaning.  Oh, and the the tag is a bit dirty (who cares!).

#6137 - c. 1970's ALFRED BOSAND, New York Royal Blue Net Over Silk Crepe Rhinestone and Beaded Gown with Matching Scarf! 1970's?  I don't know... could be 1960's as well.  This one is hard to date for sure. Suffice it to say "it's vintage" if anyone asks. Great fabric in a royal blue netting over a matching blue silk crepe studded with silver bugle beads and large rhinestones.  Gorgeous, but tiny so read on if you happen to Measure:  30" bust, 25" underbest (empire), up to 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 58" long from shoulder to hem (56" long from shoulder to hem if you want to steal some rhinestones!).   The scarf is 46" long x 9" wide.  Back nylon zipper. Excellent condition except for some beads/rhinestones missing here and there... so... as I mentioned, if you hem up to a 56" long (still quite long), you will have extra stones and beads to replace those missing.  And voila... good as new!   Smashing on the right small-boned gal! A wonderful, exciting gown that won't overwhelm you.

#3970 - c. 1990's NOLAN MILLER COUTURE Ivory Embroidered Open Lace Organdy "Mermaid" Slightly Trained Gown! I bought this gown some years ago from a large Nolan Miller auction.  Many of the pieces I purchased were designed specifically for the New York City Ballet Company  for "Sleeping Beauty", "Swan Lake" and some others.  However, in the midst of this auction came this lot of SEVEN of these Nolan Miller Couture open lace "mermaid" gowns - all matching, FOUR in perfect condition! These are the COUTURE line, NOT what you would find in your local department store. Absolutely gorgeous.  Embroidered openwork lace organdy of bows and flowers skim over the body and then flares out at knee.  Satin band around bustline and bow at back.  Zipper at back.  Most of these gowns also come with matching long gloves (which are very long and tight... so I'm not sure they are wearable unless you have ballet dancer's arms).  Just so you know, I recently saw this same gown sell on a different vintage clothing website for $2,000.   Well worth that, but you luck out and can buy for less. The skirt has 4-layers!!   Excellent condition.   Gown #1 Measures:  32" bust, up to 26/27" waist, up to 37" hips, best for 5'2" gal.  Gown #2 Measures: 31/32" bust, up to 26" waist, best for taller gal 5'6"+.  Would make a wonderful wedding gown, or just a formal gown.  Add some black trim or a black wrap and long black gloves for a Black & White ball.  Also Listed in the Wedding Section.

#6484 - c. 1950's GITER, Roma (Made in Italy) Lavender Wool Tweed Suit!  A pretty colored lavender wool tweed double-breasted suit in the typical Jackie Kennedy shape of the early 1960's.  Interesting seaming at the edges to give a hint of design tailoring.  Even the skirt zipper is interestingly positioned.  Fully lined.  1/2 length sleeves will show off your jewelry, or your matching lavender leather gloves (yeah, it will give you something to search for!  And isn't that part of the vintage fun?) There are two rows of large lavender buttons with snaps under to keep it nicely in place.  Fully lined in lavender. The label reads Giter, Roma - Made in Italy - P.zza Barberini 11, Roma.  Measures: Up to 40" bust on jacket (meant to be worn boxy), 26" waist, 23" long skirt (with 3" hem). back zipper. I'll bet this was a good label, but I have no information.  I'm sure one of my customers in Italy will know! For the quality, it should be more... but since I don't know the designer... you win! Excellent condition.  Be a lady!!

#6172 - c. late 1940's Black Thin Crepe Party Peplum Waist Party Dress with Fully Beaded Bodice and Sheer Yoke!  OK.. tiny gals... wanna great 40s dress?  I know there are loads of 40's parties and weddings to attend, and you will be so happy to have this waiting in your closet when all those other girls are scouring cyberspace and flea markets with panic in their eyes searching day and night for something, anything perfect to wear. Love the sheer net yoke which allows for the faux off-the-shoulder look!  Very fitted bodice, fully beaded to glitter in the light,  to the flippy crepe skirt and the perfect little beaded peplum.  For a totally different look, wear with a 50s petticoat for a wide, more "new look" skirt! Which, frankly, might have been the original concept for this dress... a cross between 40's and 50's.  Surprising back metal zipper... surprising as you might expect to see it on the side of the dress rather than the back, but again, that just proves it to be late 40's.  Unlined as it originally was. Measures:  32/33" bust, 25" waist, 33/34" hip, 44" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition.

#6382 - c. 1980's Ruched Look Party Dress!  Absolutely unique fabrication and print on a wonderfully sexy dress.  However you can tell by the construction that it is a high-end and brilliant little number.  The fabric is an abstract floral pink, lavender, gray and black fabric that is horizontally pleated into micro-mini "ribbons".  I don't know how else to explain it.  Just look at the close-up photos to see the material!  It's just FABULOUS!  The dress has a low squared neckline, form-fitted torso with flirty balloon ruffled sleeves and hemline.  This dress came from a studio wardrobe department, so you never know where you might find it on the silver screen! :)  So imagine you are watching movie with your friends and there it is!  Wouldn't it be incredible to say to your friends, "Oh my god, I OWN that dress!" Measures: 32" bust, 27" waist, up to 36" hips (tops!), 33" long from shoulder to hem.  However can be worn totally off the shoulder if you want!  Or use double-stick tape to keep sleeves just off shoulder. Back zipper.  Near Mint condition.  Please note:  the mannequin was too small for the dress, so I showed you what the dress might look like if you were to get creative at back with grommets and ribbon! :)

#6324 - c. late 1950's, early 1960's Navy Cotton/Linen Blend Dress with Regency Style Fern White Embroidery! Larger Size! Maybe I'm crazy, but the white embroidery on this navy cotton/linen dress just seems to me to have been lifted from some Jane Austen regency gown. Maybe the designer had a previous life?  Whatever, it's lovely and different. You can wear this dress with or without a crinoline... looks great either way (I show it both ways, but no crinoline comes with it).  Unlined as it's a summer dress. Metal zipper back. Excellent condition! I did notice some tiny phantom stitches at the bodice (on extremely close inspection), so I assume this dress originally had a white bow there... so I show an example of that as well (also doesn't come with it.  If you like the idea, just get some ribbon and make your own). Measures: 39" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 43" hips.

#6632 - c. 1980's TOMASZ STARZEWSKI Black Chantilly Lace Dress! Here's your chance to dress like a real Princess!  Tomasz Starzewski is a British designer who started his career in 1981 designing eveningwear for celebrities and royals... most notably for the late Diana, Princess of Wales and Sarah Ferguson. By the early '90s he had built one of the UK's most exclusive and socially coveted women's labels, encapsulating elegance and luxury, and with a design philosophy of 'glamour, pure glamour'. His dress prices START at about $1800!  This one would have likely cost more.  Gorgeous fine black Chantilly lace over a white satin. Scalloped hemline, fitted bodice, "v" low waistline seaming and full gathered skirt. Back zipper. I added the black satin ribbon/bow at the waist, but it doesn't come with it, and looks great with or without... I just had fun. I also added some crinolines under, but looks fine without as well. Fashionable Tea length or Ballet Length.  Near Mint condition. Straps are perfect width for a bra under. Yeah! Measures:  32/33" bust, 27/28" waist, 50" long from shoulder to hem.

#6378 - c. 1990's (?) KARL LAGERFELD Black Silk Chiffon Dress with Lace Insets!   This "Little Black Dress" is more Chanel than Chanel... and no surprise since Karl Lagerfeld took over the house of Chanel in 1983.  Don't wear this dress if you expect to be amorous... by the time you finish unbuttoning the 30 buttons at the front of the dress, he will likely be out of the mood and will be watching a baseball or football game!  Hard to date as it is TIMELESS!!  Excellent condition.  One pinhole? I think I saw it once, but I can't find it again!  Measures:  32/33" bust, 24/25" waist, up to 34" hips, 37" long from shoulder to hem.  Has an under corset inside - beautifully made.  Very expensive when new.  Silk chiffon and black lace insets in long flowing cuffed sleeves and mid-skirt. Just perfect!

#6780 - c. 1980's BOB MACKIE Electric Blue Beaded Gown on Black Netting! I recently sold this same gown in gold and silver beads on nude netting for $4,275.  This blue beaded gown was sold at the Mackie Boutiques, so it is one step later than the nude gown. Still this is one of those rare early Mackie gowns of couture quality.... meaning fully beaded on mesh with easily removable lining.  These are the Mackies that will end up in museums... not those newer Mackies that are just "pretty gowns".  If you removed the lining, it would be the same see-through dresses that were worn by Cher, Diana Ross and others! With the lining, the body shows through just at strategic areas. Only these very early net Mackie dresses (and costumes) were priced at this level. There were many Mackie mass-produced dresses that were produced later, and often people don't know the difference. Excellent condition.  Marked size 6.  There are a very few beads missing, you will have to spend time searching.  Here's your chance to own the best of the best from Hollywood's fashion icon and masterful designer!  Electric blue color will "wow" as you walk through the door.  Surprising amount of stretch in this gown, so Measures:  32-36" bust, 24-28" waist, 34-39" hips, 60" long from shoulder to hem! The sleeves are long with zippers, so they scrunch, unless your arms are extremely long. Shoulder pads aren't overwhelming.  Hollywood glamour from the master!

#9910 - RARE c. 1960's HELEN ROSE Couture Pink Beaded Dress!  Helen Rose was one of the few top Hollywood Designers from the 1940s-60s. She costumed over 200 films for MGM, was honored with 10 Oscar nominations and two Oscar wins! She designed wardrobe for a long list of stars. And her designs are memorable...such as Elizabeth Taylor's famous white wrap dress and slip from "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof".  She was Grace Kelly's favorite, designing her wardrobe for "The Swan" and "High Society" AND her personal wedding gown, as well as Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding gown to Nicky Hilton,  a white satin gown embellished with seed pearls and beading which had taken a number of beaders two months to complete! Helen's consumer line, "Helen Rose Couture", existed from 1957-1972. In 1957, the price for her couture version of the Liz Taylor "Cat" short chiffon dress was $250! So you can just imagine the original price of this beaded gown! Easily $2000+ in the 60s! Fitted fully beaded dress with extremely flattering low "v" neckline both front and back.  Fabulous floral beaded and rhinestones over the entire bodice and wide band at hemline.  Awesome! If Helen Rose was good enough for Grace Kelly and Liz Taylor for their wedding gowns, well... By the way, don't forget to mention the Grace Kelly / Liz Taylor connection to every woman in the room! Measures tops: 33/34" bust, 23/24" waist (23" inner band), 35/36" in the hips, 39" long from shoulder to hem. This is an opportunity to experience the luxury and glamour that was reserved for filmland's most beautiful women. Near Mint condition!  The BEST of the BEST! Also listed in the Museum Category.
