# 5778 - c. 1990's (?) Black and Nearly White/Ivory Ruched One-Shouldered Wiggle Dress!  There is no label inside this nicely made dress, so I can't tell you much, other than it's great!  As I hope you can see (and you will see in the additional photos), the entire 3/4+ of the dress is black horizontal ruching (very Ceil Chapman or Jean Desses) including the one little cap sleeve.  Then on the dress of the dress is a plain white panel with overlays of large white "leaves".  Back plastic zipper.  Fully lined.  Nothing much else to say... other than "gotta love it!"  Measures: 34" bust, 27/28" waist, up to 37" hips, 31" around hemline (wiggle much??), 37" long from shoulder to hem.  VERY flattering on... even worn tight (which normally would show every bad curve in my body, but this seems to hide all the bad stuff and only show the good!).  Fantastic for a B&W party.... or masked event! :)

# 7109 - c. 1950's NATHAN STRONG Black Silk Chiffon Dress with Lace Empire Bodice and Cap Sleeves!  Lace is definitely back in Vogue. And chiffon never went out of fashion (at least as far as I know.... but what do I know as I live in a previous century in my vintage world!!).  I don't know this label, and the only info I found was that the Nathan-Strong duo was formed in 1945 by Robert Strong and Morris Nathan. For the larger part of the 1950's, the chief designer was August de Lorenzo who specialized in fabulous cocktail dresses which sold very well from the 1950s into the early 1960s. If this design is any indication, I'm not surprised!  Lovely, eh?  Black silk chiffon, empired wide waist to highlight the lace bust and cap sleeves... all trimmed in a thin black satin band which ends in pretty little bows at back.  The chiffon skirt will twirl with you (for all you girly-girls like me out there).  Back metal zipper.  Excellent condition.  Measures:  35/36" bust, up to 28" waist, 39" long from shoulder to hem, 16" from shoulder to waist, 23" from waist to hem.

# 7399 - c. 1980's THIERRY MUGLER, Paris Black Velvet and White Satin Colorblock Dress!  I HAD to have this dress (but my hips are too big. Wahhhh!!).  I love Mugler!   Mostly I love his 1980s jackets, but then I found this dress, and my pulse started to race (or perhaps it was just a menopausal hot flash).  Not sure, but whatever, I was coveting this dress. I mean... come on.... look at that incredible neckline.... with the white strap at the right (or left, depending).  And even more exciting are the three bows tying the black to the white giving the impression of a wrap dress, but it isn't.  Thierry Mugler...  I bow down to your brilliance!!   Colorblocking is back "in", and this is the best of that in Black and White:  One side of the dress is white satin, and the rest of the dress is black velvet.  Measures: 35" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 40" hips, 36" long from shoulder to hem.  Labeled size 40 (but remember this is from the 1980s, so sizes were different). Excellent condition with just extreme minor snags on the satin.  I'm VERY VERY VERY picky, so others would call this Mint. The actress Kyra Sedgwick wore a vintage Thierry Mugler dress at the 2011 SAG Awards, so what the hell are you waiting for???  This is a near perfectly designed dress.  You're crazy if you pass this up...  I'm just sayin'!

# 7231 - c. 1980's KARL LAGERFELD Lightweight Blush Cotton High Fashion Suit!  WOW!  So unique! Very 80's fashion forward ... especially in the way this jacket closes!  The placement of the buttons is what creates the gathering at the front of the jacket.   Took me a few seconds to figure it out for sure (OK... perhaps it was more than a few seconds).  Even the cuffs are unique with an inset panel.  Even the collar neckline is unique.  Oh, and for any of you who don't know Karl Lagerfeld (shame on you!)... you likely know Chanel where he has been the designer of that label since 1983.  Measures:  34" bust, 25" waist, 21" long skirt.  Wear as a suit, or as separates.  This jacket alone would be smashing with jeans!  Museum worthy design!!

# 5817 - c. 1950's IRENE, Exclusively for The Halle Bros. Co. Maroon Wool "Striped" Skirt Suit!   I couldn't resist.  I have a few lovely Irene and Lilli Ann suits, none of which are in perfect condition... which I usually only like to sell, but hey... fashion history is sometimes just as important as perfect condition, so.... of the suits I recently got, this one is my favorite!  Looks like a matching blouse under the jacket, but it's all attached.  Fantastically fitted, great cuffed sleeves, incredibly wide lapels, covered buttons.  The wool material is slightly textured with barely seen vertical strips. So what's wrong, you ask?  Look at the additional photos and you will see that the moths got to the jacket in the areas you DON'T see when worn (but still close to being seen under the lapels), and then there are two additional moth holes.. one tiny one on one sleeve and one longer one at mid back skirt.  There is plenty of material to use to have this re-woven to bring back to near perfect.   Measures: up to 40" bust, up to 31" waist jacket, 28.5" waist skirt, 24" long from shoulder to hem of jacket, 30" long from waist to hem of skirt with 3" hem (taken up 1.5" from the original length, but absolutely professionally hemmed).  Metal zipper skirt side.  Minor shoulder pads. Unlined skirt original.  Priced to give you plenty to pay to re-weave.

# 5899 - c. late 1930's EISENBERG & SONS ORIGINAL Pink Satin and Black Crepe Gown! I've decided to put up a few pieces that I find extraordinarily lovely, but not in perfect condition (as I like to sell).  But then I figured, hell, I buy items I love for my OWN collection that aren't in mint condition, so why should I not offer these to you as well??  It certainly keeps the prices much more affordable, and there are few people as picky as I am re: condition, so......  here you go!  How's this for lovely??  Eisenberg & Sons Original gown.  This is one of those that was originally sold in the stores with a piece of "Eisenberg Ice" costume jewelry already on the gown.  Not surprisingly what happened was that so many women were stealing the jewelry off the dresses, that the company started manufacturing them separately!!  So... the first "issue" with this gown is that there is a bit of satin bruise/pinholes in the upper left (on photo, right if it's on you) satin where the pin was pinned on.  A hint of discoloration on the braiding.  The black crepe skirt has a few pulls, and there is minor underarm discoloration (see the last 5 photos for all these issues).  None are horrible and the gown is wearable.   You can't tell, but the "x" rope design wraps around under the bustline and hooks at the back... creating a seamless look!  Great design element!  Measures: 34/35" bust, up to 26" waist, up to 38" hips, 54" long from shoulder to hem, 10.5" around bottom of cuffs (upper arm). Side hooks.

# 5744 - c. 1980's BOB MACKIE Pink Fully Beaded Dress!  Yup... I find the best of the best Bob Mackie dresses!!!  I know there are many Bob Mackie dresses out there that pale in comparison.  It's all a matter of finding the most elaborate pieces.  This one sets my heart aflutter.  The fact that it's pink doesn't hurt (LOVE pink!  I'm such a girly-girl!!). If you've seen the most recent awards shows, you will see that long sleeves and higher necks are back in vogue (thank you Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway!), and they got rave reviews for their looks! And... this one was never worn!  Still has the original hang tag.  This is not one of the very early Mackie's on netting, but still fantastic.. of the design you might have expected form one of the netted dresses.  Check out that "v" hemline, short in the front and long in the back with clear beaded fringe all around the scalloped hemline.  Yup, fantastic!  Pink, silver, white, and coral beads and sequins create the rest of the deco and floral design.  The photos will explain all the rest.  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 37" hips. 35"-55" long from shoulder to hem.  Back zipper.

# 7274 - c. 1990's MOSCHINO COUTURE, Made in Italy "Signal" Jacket!  When I first saw this jacket, all I could conjure up is the scene from "Two For The Road" when Audrey Hepburn comes out from behind the signal and waves her arms at the gorgeous Albert Finney (yes, he was gorgeous back then... a far cry from the fat old geezer in the current James Bond movie!).  And yes, it's probably because I'm obsessed with Audrey Hepburn.  Can't help it.  She's my girl! :)  So you can decide if I'm crazy or this jacket conjures up a similar scene for you.  Anyway... it a great black, red, white and green jacket with cool design... and a great star at the back!  There are no closures, it's just meant to wear open.  Would be great with a solid t-shirt or turtleneck under.  Attention perfectionists... there are two issues... one that should resolve with a cleaning.. there is some dusty dirt at the front white (at middle area - see photo) and there is some strange white small spots on the bullseye on the green.  Don't know what it is (see photo).  Otherwise lovely.  And way cool!  Labeled size 8 USA. Measures:  up to 36" bust, 30" long from shoulder to hem.   NEW LISTING!

#7572- c. 1962 Cocktail Dress of Floral Printed Chiffon over Matching Printed Silk with Beading at Waist!  It rarely happens that I find the exact same vintage dress that I have sold in the past, but it happens.  And when it does, I have to decide if I love it enough to sell it again (as I prefer to present, for your viewing enjoyment, "new" finds.) But, when the dress is as gorgeous as this one, well I can't help myself.  The last dress was found in the same collection as the Jean Desses dress black petal dress that I sold. I sent photos of this dress to my "expert" to see if he might be able to identify what designer it might be attributed to.  It's one of those that makes you ache to know!  He wrote "When I first saw this dress, the beautifully draped bodice, brought to mind two possible designers... both Jean Desses and Jacques Griffe". However, the internal finishing is not couture (see photo of interior).  This dress is made of an absolutely beautiful hand-printed chiffon over a silk twill under-lining that is hand-printed to match, lending a vivid, almost 3-dimensional effect to the skirt fabric as it moves. The bodice of the dress is made with a Grecian style draped over-layer of chiffon. There is a gathered cummerbund waistband that is richly accented with beads and sequins at the center. This embroidery gives the dress a distinctive elegance using beads carefully shaded to match the print underneath. Exquisite attention to detail makes this an outstanding dress! Back metal zipper. Measures:  35" bust, up to 26" waist, up to 38" hips, 45" long from shoulder to hem (with 2" hem).  Excellent condition... although the stitching at the back metal zipper is a bit messy... someone must have resewn... take to a tailor to get it cleaned up a bit if you care, however it's TOTALLY unseen when worn. #6683 - c. 1968 The Vested Gentress Republican Campaign Dress of White Cotton!  OK, now we only have 2 more years before another major election (hard to believe!) so for those of you who want to dress for the occasion, or are planning a museum display of political campaign memorabilia in 2012, well... here's the real deal.  From the 1968 Republican Presidential campaign for Richard Nixon.  There were Nixon dresses as well, but this is the generic Republican dress with the red and blue drawings of elephants, the white house, hats, a woman snapping photos and signs reading "vote",  and "white house", etc. Looks unworn.  Hugh 7" hem, but I think this is original. Hand-screened print on white cotton. Labeled Size 8, but this is an old sizing.  Back zipper. Near Mint condition. Measures: 33" long from shoulder to hem. I also have Republican shoes (size 8.5ish) from 1996 for sale! You can go crazy with a whole outfit! :)  NEW LISTING!

#7150 - c. 1960's OLEG CASSINI, Young America, Saks Fifth Avenue Black "Jackie Kennedy" Wiggle Dress!  If you don't love this, you really need to get your eyes checked! :)  Designed when Oleg Cassini was "king"... when he achieved perhaps his greatest fame as the official wardrobe designer for Jacqueline Kennedy when she was first lady.  In addition, he also designed clothes for Joan Fontaine, Joan Crawford and other Hollywood stars and women of great wealth, as well as having been engaged to Grace Kelly in 1954.  One of the best Cassini dress!!  Stunning "LBD" (Little Black Dress) of black rayon crepe with silk lining with extraordinary yoke cutouts creating the feel of a strapless dress with necklace! Nearly Roman feel. Fabulously placed asymmetrical black metal zipper!!  Excellent condition!  Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 38" hips, 41" long from shoulder to hem.  A MUST have for ANY Cassini lover... or Mad Men fan! :). #7179 - c. late 1930's Gown with Matching Cape!  Damn I just adore great 1930s gowns!  The most modern looking era. This is a unique print fabric of a light dusty nude and a not quite black in a gentle waffly crepe. The "v" front and back gown is sexy and clingy. There are two fabulous matching solid strips twisted together at the bust that hang loosely down the front. Front slit. The cape is just a rounded cocoon. The inner edge of the cape is lined with stripes of nude and off-black, otherwise the rest of the cape is unlined, as is the gown. There is a strap on each side to hold the cape into your arms. The cape is angled down to longer in the back. Excellent condition with just three light spots on bust, two light spots near cape shoulder, hardly worth mentioning ever-so-slight underarm tinge, and under certain lights, there is a ever so slight deeper tinge to the cape.  Not sure if this is original or not. It does let the cape "pop" a bit off the dress, so may be original to the design. Measures: 34-36" bust, up to 27" waist, up to 38" hips, 54" long shoulder to hem. Cape is 44" long at back. Just beautiful!  NEW LISTING!

#6311 - c. 1940's Navy Beaded Suit!  LARGER SIZE! The perfect 1940's dinner suit of navy wool with awesome attached capelet and pocket flaps covered with blue carnival glass beads and navy braiding! The caplet is just as beautiful in back! Label reads:  "Fashioned by Ni-Nel, New York.  Department store label: "Ames, Philadelphia".  Measures: 38/39" bust, 29/30" waist, up to 41" hips, 29" long skirt 25" long jacket.  Excellent condition with one teeny tiny pinhole in capelet that doesn't go all the way through (see photo). The skirt is fairly straight... a big large for my mannequin, so it's hanging a bit strange. If you fit the size, it will look great on you.  The jacket is SO gorgeous to wear with jeans or over a dress! You will want to pair it with everything you own.  As beautiful as any Lilli Ann 40s suit!

#6999 - c. 1990's ESCADA COUTURE Copper Gold Flecked Paisley Print Silk Dinner Suit with Satin Trim!  Damn, this is gorgeous.  I realize that nobody dresses these days, but this is the kind of outfit that should be in your closet, so when you wake-up and decide to feel like a woman again instead of a bag-lady, and you are finally tired of wearing your jeans to the theater, or out to dinner, or even if you are looking for a smashing outfit to wear to a wedding, or a going away suit...  yadda, yadda, yadda. Top of the line Escada Couture.  Smashing copper print with gold lame threads woven through for just a hint of glitter to match those great amber and white rhinestone buttons. #5176 - c. 1950's Golden Roses Printed Pouf Dress Taupe Voile!  I have to tell you that when I was invited to a 50's 50's (50th birthday in the 1950's theme) party recently and had to find the perfect dress to wear (after all, I sell vintage! I had to be the "belle of the ball" or what good am I?)  SO I went through my entire stock and settled on this dress. It was perfect, though I had a hard time getting through the doorways as this skirt pouf is HUGE!  Shown with no extra crinolines... this is the way it comes... all the pouf is already under the dress.  Lovely design of copper-hued beiges and tans (or as someone else called it a soft copper/rose) in a sheer printed floral voile. Slight gold hue doesn't really shine, just adds a glorious touch!  The bodice is lined.  Comes with the original satin bow front belt ribbon. Back metal zipper.  Measures:  34" bust (best for perky breasts.  My c/d cup fits, but the darts are a bit high for me, so I either need a breast lift, or a better bra!), 27" slightly high waist (15" from shoulder to waist, but feels slightly higher than most waists, so measure your 27" a couple inches above your bellybutton).  Excellent condition (with extreme minor loss of the printed roses on the rayon voile.... and for those of you who are perfectionists, there is one tiny area where a bit of the gold has tarnished to a green - noticeable only on extreme inspection). NOTE:  the dress you will be getting is better than the one photographed as the floral pattern on the bust is more symmetrical.  The rest of the dress pattern is identical.  There is probably an extra 1" at the back with the zipper, if you need slightly larger bust/waist. I remember seeing this "Smith and Jones" label when I was in Jr. High and High School and I was always drawn to their clothing.  However, since I was working after school in the drugstore for $ 1.65/hour, it wasn't buying much.  Just drooling. Now I get to buy what I would have! :)  Whoopie!!!  Morton Myles is even a better label so this would have been the "higher end" of Smith and Jones. Clean, bright white poly pique gown trimmed in black pique. Unlined.  I might even like this with a black belt!  GREAT for your hot weather vacation or summer.  Excellent condition. #4032 - c. 1930's Ivory Crepe Gown with Extraordinary Fringed Trained Back!  LARGER SIZE! For those of you who drool over the Vionnet museum fringed gown that you see in many history of fashion books, well, this isn't quite that, but unless you are planning to break into the The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, this is just about the closest you're gonna get!  AND for those of you who get so upset because items aren't in larger sizes (and by larger, that usually means anything over a size 6 in vintage clothing! ... ta da!... :)   Measures: 40" bust, up to 33" waist, up to 42" hips, 57" long from shoulder to hem in front, 62" long in trained back. The gown is an ivory crepe, plain in front and fringed only in the lower trained back. Love the low "v" back with the strips across.  The condition is Very Good, as there are the occasional small, light spots here and there (though you won't see them unless inspecting), and the fact that someone had pinned a decoration at the front and the back strip (see close-ups).  The other issue is the fringe will need to be "combed" and some of the fringe looks like it unraveled, so it's no longer twisted.  None of the issues are glaring, and for an ivory colored gown from the 30s, it's still in great shape! Wonderful for a 1930s themed wedding, eh?   Or ANY wedding!  NEW LISTING! Also Listed in the Wedding Category.

#6983 - c. late 1940's LILLI ANN, Paris "New Look" Gray Patterned Wool Coat!  Ah, Lilli Ann... in my opinion the best of the best of the era for tailored suits (OK, perhaps Balenciaga was a wee bit better) and coats! And then this (again my opinion) is the best Lilli Ann wool coat I've ever seen!  The shape is superb, the diamond pattered wool material imported from Paris, France is exquisite, and the construction is superb, and damn that bow at the back of the neck is just soooo sweet!! This coat was uniquely wonderful balloon sleeves. Fabulous diamond pattern of the wool.... giving it an almost quilted look.  Love the high lapelled collar... and has two pockets. Lined in the original russet. Give yourself a treat with a winter coat you are going to love to wear!  OR for any Lilli Ann collectors. Measures:  38" bust, up to 30" waist, 44" long from shoulder to hem.  Photographed with crinoline to show off the shape. #6456 - c. 1960's ELMOOR, London Winter White Satin Damask Dress with Sweet Bows!  Hey, for all you gals looking for an Audrey Hepburn looking WHITE dress.  Most all "Audrey" dresses are black, but the the sweet modified boatneck, fitted bodice, lower "v" neck back, and slight bubble skirt (or less bubble if you don't wear with crinoline under) give you that classy early 1960's look that we all crave! The material is beautiful to look at... a satin damask of white on white design (actually it's a winter white color). Probably rayon.  Love the sweet little bows at front waist!  Back zipper at lower back.  Elmoor was at least in existence from the 1940s (even produced clothing in London during WWII - not easy to do through the bombings I'm sure!)  through the 1960s. Excellent condition with just the slightest dirtmark at the hem (see last photo).. probably dry-cleanable, but hardly even worth it for the first few wears. A terrific option for a casual or second wedding as well!  Measures: 34/35" bust, up to 27" waist, 43" long from shoulder to hem, 27" from waist to hem.  Shown with crinoline (doesn't come with it). #6937 - c. 1960's NORMAN NORELL, New York Brown Tweed Skirt Suit!  I'm sure you know, Norman Norell is the designer for those very wealthy women with impeccable taste women of the 60s who don't need to flaunt. Early in his career, he was a Hollywood film and Broadway costume designer, Then worked at  Hattie Carnegie until joining with Anthony Traina as Traina-Norell., and on his own as Norman Norell after the death of Traina in 1958.  This great brown tweed wool double breasted suit came to me from a museum deaccession. In photographing, I felt something crunchy in the pocket... turned out to be an old receipt from I. Miller (shoes), and a signature that looks to be "Frieda Rosenthal", so I googled that name and came up with this as the possible original owner!   "NEW YORK - In the fall of 2008 and spring of 2009, Sotheby’s New York had the privilege of offering for sale Property from the Collection of Frieda and Milton Rosenthal, distinguished collectors and philanthropists. They sought out the very best examples in each collecting field. This is the most important collection of African and Oceanic Art offered in forty years in New York. The collection also features exceptional works of American Indian, Japanese and Chinese Works of Art and Jewelry. Property from the Rosenthal Collection is estimated to sell for $10/15 million." I can't confirm absolutely that this was the owner, but seems quite reasonable.  Excellent condition with just a few issues to mention.  The lining under the arms is worn (nothing shown on the exterior), and on 2nd inspection, I found a small moth hole at the cuff of one sleeve.  A few stitches would easily repair. .Size Info Coming... #6258 - c. 1961 JERRY PARNIS / A. GOODMAN "Audrey Hepburn" Black Crepe Dress with Taffeta Ruffle Hemline!  OK... Could be a bit earlier, but I'm taking a leap of faith in dating this dress to 1961, as it's just SO reminiscent of the infamous "Breakfast at Tiffany's" dress.  All you will need is the hat, scarf and sunglasses, belt, black gloves, and black kitten heels, umbrella .... oh and it doesn't hurt to have Audrey's STUNNING face! Black thin silk crepe fitted dress with the lower portion of the dress festooned with vertical taffeta ruffles.  Back metal zipper.  Excellent condition. Measures: 34-37" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 38" hips, 41" long from shoulder to hem.  If you prefer... think of this as your Joan Holloway "Mad Men" dress !:)  And start wiggling! :)  Slightly large on my size 6 body, but still looks great on me! So smaller is fine.

#6796 - c. early 1960's Yellow Heavy Cotton Print Spring Shortish Mod Dress and Coordinating Reverse Patterned Coat! Hello Michelle Obama! :) I'm sure you remember her Isabel Toledo yellow dress and coat she wore to the Inauguration, yes? Well, perhaps Isabel was inspired by something like this from the 1960's.  Direct to you from a museum, and it still has the museum tag dangling off the cuff. The dress is so sweet.. A-line shape dress with slightly raised waistline with very thin white leather tie belt.  The material is a fairly heavy-weight cotton of white with yellow embossed design.  The coat is exactly the opposite yellow with white embossed design.  The shape of the coat gives you that "Jackie-O" classic look with half belt at back.  Excellent condition both pieces! Nice quality!  Measures:  34/35" bust, easy waist and hips.  Coat and dress are both 33" long from shoulder to hem.

#6627 - c. 1950's JUNIOR HOUSE, Milwaukee Novelty Seashells Polished Cotton Sundress!  Sparkling rhinestoned, seashell print bustier bodice!  Wow... how cool is this beauty? I just LOVE unique 50's sundresses. This one is a cool seafoam color in a lightly polished cotton covered all over with a novelty print of various seashells (why am I suddenly humming "Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid"?).  Fitted bodice, nipped "v" waist tailoring, amazingly full skirt.  My favorite part are the rhinestone encrusted seashell shaped cups!!  The dress can be worn with the thin halter straps or strapless, and is fully boned to ensure fit. This dress even has hidden pockets in the skirt (love that extra touch!). Back metal zipper.  Shown with crinoline (not included).  Excellent condition. Measures:  33/34" bust, 25/26" waist, 29" long from natural waist to hem.

#6715 - c. 1980's Silver "Mirror Ball" Metallic Mermaid Gown! Make yourself the center of attention!  I know this for a fact because I wore this gown to a Xmas gala (1970's Las Vegas Theme!) and trust me... I wasn't lost in the crowd!!!  :) And got lots of great comments from women and men alike!  This is not one of my usual well-made garments of the best fabrics.  Nope.  It's rather one of those middle-of-the-road mass produced garments.  However, I just couldn't resist the look! And for those of you who want to WOW without looking cheap.... I think this is the perfect gown!  It is a stretchy fabric, very comfortable and light. And, oh my god, it looks great on!  You will be the mirror ball in the crowd.  Does not need a lot of accessories... please! The measurements will look large, but these are the maximum... still looks great on me at 33" bust, 26" waist, 37" hips (can you say "pear"! :(   So... Measures:  up to 38" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 41" hips, 57" long from shoulder to hem. Back zipper. Fully lined.

#A001 - c. 2000's ALEXANDER McQUEEN, Made in Italy Zipper Skirt of Red/Tan Wool/Mohair Tweed with Faux Leather Trim! How sad to hear of Alexander McQueen's recent suicide. So for all you out there who think that celebrity is the key to a happy life... think again!  Happy comes from great relationships and doing what you love! McQueen was tops in the fashion world, dressing celebrity patrons, including Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Victoria Beckham  (who described him as a 'master of fashion, creative genius and an inspiration) and even Lady Gaga who incorporated his pieces in her music videos.  I personally hate boring skirts. This is one of those museum, stand alone pieces that just puts a smile on your face!  It has the look of a typical wool stitched down pleated "school girl" skirt, but the pleats can be zipped down to the bottom to create a slim pencil skirt! OR zipped to various heights as you wish! Love the gold heavy metal zippers with tan leather-like pulls.  Fringe at hemline.  Side zipper. Excellent condition with just some hanger indentations on the waistband (see photo). Measures: 20.5" long.  This is NOT one of the cheaper line McQ.  This is the top-of-the-line RTW.

#6997 - c. early 1960's Pink Cotton Embroidered Shirtwaist "Betty Draper" or "Mad Men" Dress! LARGER SIZE! I am such a fan of "Man Men" (the TV show).  Fabulously acted, written, directed, and most importantly (for me) perfectly costumed!!!  Each female character has her own unique style with the ex-model, now housewife Betty Draper wearing some clothing that I wish I owned.  So in my never-ending search for the best vintage dresses, I found this terrific light pink cotton shirtwaist dress with original belt embroidered with pink and green flowers!!!  Betty would definitely wear this! Measures: 40" bust, up to 32" waist, 24" long from waist to hem, 18" from shoulder to waist, 16" across the back.  Excellent condition with just barely seen "freckles"... most would call it MINT condition. Love it!

#6691 - c. 1980's MOSCHINO COUTURE Lampshade Bustier!  Just what you want from Moschino!  Very collectable!  The highest prices for Moschino are always those with the most whimsy.  This one evokes that classic Carol Burnett Scarlett O'Hara routine... "I saw it in the window and I just had to have it" where she floats down the staircase in the drapes tied as a dress still attached to the curtain rod!  This is the Moschino lampshade bustier complete with the silk fringe and tassels!  Near mint condition.  Gold and black tassel print.  Tassel straps.  Bow at front.  Wired hipline.  Wear with the front black rope tassel as you see, or tied in a bow (as I show in the other photos). #4574 - c. 1983 BOB MACKIE, Worn by Brooke Shields for Cosmopolitan Cover Red and Black Bugle Bead Gown on Black Netting with Matching Opulent Fox Fur Trimmed Diva Jacket! From Bob Mackie's private collection of gowns purchased from the Sotheby's auction. As far as I am concerned, this was the most amazing piece at the auction! OK.. there were about 3 others that I also loved, but none nearly as opulent!! I've been searching for the Cosmo cover with Brooke Shields wearing this gown, but haven't located it yet. The gown and jacket are in Excellent condition and look incredible on! The red beading on the black netting gives an interesting coloration, with the detail pattern of the gown appearing more pronounced in certain lighting conditions. VERY high slight in the skirt shows almost all your leg when you move. Closes at back with hook between the back straps. Couture construction makes every body look it's best. The jacket is KILLER!!! Massive dolman sleeves and drapy back all trimmed in wide black fox fur around high collar, cuffs, and around entire edge. Fully beaded in all red beads and weighs a ton!! Measures: 34/35" bust, 25" waist, up to 37" hips. The finest early Bob Mackie pieces are coveted by museums. Here's your chance to own the best of the best from Hollywood's fashion icon and masterful designer! So fabulous that even Bob Mackie couldn't part with it for over 20+ years! #4422 - c. 1980's OSCAR de la RENTA Gown of Red Silk Crepe Fully Ruched Strapless Sweetheart Bodice and Long Front Drape!  If you can't afford a vintage Jean Desses gown, but adore the look of the intricate ruching of the bodice.... well, how about this similar Oscar de la Renta gown of red silk crepe??  I have to confess, I wore this gown once to a gala event and felt like a million bucks!  I think the men who kept turning their heads in my direction confirmed it! :)  Every man seems to love women in red.  Excellent condition with just one teeny spot at the mid front just at the bottom of the ruching (she might have worn a pin or something there).  Barely worth mentioning. And may easily come out with a spot clean. The back will zip all the way up, but just didn't want to pull it on the mannequin.  Her breasts are too hard to "smush" as yours will (I hope!).

#6626 - c. 1930's Gown of Sexy Sheer Floral Cotton Print!  At least I would think it's cotton, but quite sheer and something like a printed seersucker.  The fact that it's cotton based, it has remained in fabulous condition throughout the years! Nearly Perfect!!  Near Mint as they say! You will need a slip under (please... unless you are using it to go man-fishing).  I'm showing the shoulder tied in a few different ways... as there is no shoulder strap on this side of the gown... just the ties! LOVE the drape at front and the even lower drape at the back!  The dress is bias cut, so skims the body and then flares out at the bottom.   Since bias cut, it will fit quite a few different bodies, but you will still want to be small.  Email me your measurements, and I can make sure it will fit you.

#4142 - c. 1950's Disney's LADY & the TRAMP Black Cotton Print Circle Skirt!  Years ago I had found another one of these wonderful Disney "Lady and the Tramp" cotton circle skirts! The last one in red background with white heart charm bracelet print... this one is a black background with light blue heart charms!!  Now ... if I know my stuff (and I only know what I know, and I don't know what I don't know, so how can I know how much I know???? :)....  this skirt was sewn from a "kit" which could be purchased at the local fabric shop.  The "kit" was actually just precut printed panels which could then be sewn to size.  This one is TINY, but perhaps could be revamped with a larger waistband as it's even MORE than a circle. Measures 22" waist, 29" long. Excellent condition though needs a button on waistband. Shown with crinolines that don't come with it.

#5703 - c. 1960's Periwinkle Raw Thai Silk Hostess Dress with Matching Scarf/Stole! Remember when having guests over meant dressing up?  Some of you might only know that from movies and TV shows like "Mad Men".  Ooh, and wouldn't Betty Draper look fabulous in this? (for those of you who haven't seen "Mad Men"... get the DVDs!!!).   Periwinkle (lavender blue) raw Thai silk dress with fitted bodice with gold decorative design at "v" neckline and edge of scarf. The skirt is moderately full and open at both sides with large matching buttons which can be closed all the way, or open to reveal cigarette pants or an interesting underskirt, or whatever you want!  Comes with matching scarf/stole (which is slightly raw at the edges) which can be worn a bunch of different ways.  Dress looks great on.  Shown with a bit of a crinoline (doesn't come with it).  Measures: 34/35" bust, 26/27" waist, 29.5" long from waist to hem.  Metal zipper at side.  62" x 18.5" scarf. #6889 - c. 1950's JULI LYNNE CHARLOT, California Black Cotton Velvet Circle Skirt Covered with 3-D Felt Roses with Matching Bustier!  Unbelievable find!! I probably should have photographed this with a fluffier crinoline, but I'm sure you are smart enough to imagine it.  Killer outfit by the "originator" of the poodle skirt!  From The Vintage Fashion Guild Label website, "Juli Lynne Charlot was an actress turned designer. In 1947, she designed a felt circle skirt which she decorated with appliquéd Christmas trees. The skirt was such a success that she continued to design similar skirts with embroidered and appliquéd motifs. According to some sources, Charlot was the originator of the poodle skirt. She also did marvelously decorated sweaters, and sometimes did matching sweater and skirt sets."  I've seen the sweaters (rarely), but I've never (until now) seen a Charlot bustier to match her skirt giving a "dress" look... and even more rarely do you see the appliques in such 3-Dimentional!! FABULOUS!  Red two-tone felt roses on a flat green felt vine with felt appliqued leaves.  The black cotton velvet circle skirt has the classic Charlot wide top-stitched waistband and a 200" hemline! The bustier has a metal zipper. Measures: 36" bust, 25/26" waist skirt, 26" waist top, 30" long skirt.

#6735 - c. 1930's MORTON BREGMAN Art Deco 2-piece Deep Cranberry Crepe Outfit! GREAT WEARABLE SIZE! Museum Quality Design! I have to say upfront that this is probably the my favorite 1930s daywear "dress" I have ever sold! I'm sure just by showing this on my website, that the extraordinary treatment of the sleeves will be "stolen" by modern day designers!  But you know what they say... "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"! Sadly I can find little information on Morton Bregman (obviously he deserves more attention!), but what I did find is was that as early as a Harpers Bazaar article in 1946, that Morton Bregman was already considered a fashion icon (along with the likes of Adrian and Hattie Carnegie).  And in 1955, Morton Bregman Spring collection pieces cost $49.95 -  $169.95, with a few higher priced.  1955... that's when new houses averaged $16,000!!!!  OK, so now for the outfit.  Start with a lovely colored deep cranberry crepe fabric which is slightly sheer. Then add 40 (yup, 40) silver floral buttons (so you will NOT be able to undress quickly!).  Fully horizonal pleated top with diagonally pleated long sleeves (zipper cuffs).  High tie neck.  Long slim skirt with side metal zipper. Measures:  40" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 39" hips, 29.5" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition.  The only slight issues (if you care) is slight sheen from iron and the tiniest pinholes only seen when you hold the dress up to the light.  Hardly worth mentioning unless you are a perfectionist. The only real issue to mention at all is the small wear of only one layer of the material at the bottom side of blouse.  Doesn't go through so it's not a complete hole, but one layer has the small hole.  I didn't see it until in bright daylight.  DO NOT HESITATE! (oh and please don't pay attention to the fact that the skirt is on backwards! Eek!)

#6732 - c. 1950's Party Dress of Black Organdy with Black Chantilly Lace Inserts Over a Blush Lining!  Yeah, I know... she's pretty, eh?  Like a work of art... perfectly balanced placement of the Chantilly lace inserts on bust, and skirt.  And just the right touch of blush rayon lining slightly blending with the horizontally striped black organdy overlay.  Perhaps my favorite part of this dress is the double corded straps that just tie at any length you need them.  Just the perfect simple vintage party dress! Excellent condition. Metal zipper at side. Measures: 35" bust, 25" waist, 49" long from shoulder to hem.  I placed an extra crinoline under... but you could use one even a bit poufier.

#6859 - c. 1930's Sheer White Silk Gauze Gown with Printed Tiny Blue Bows and Dots! So sweet! Looks like it just stepped out of a 1930s movie.  This gown is very sheer... so I'm showing it over one of my Edwardian princess slips (which means you are seeing a hint of yellow ribbon through the bodice and need the hemline... there is NO yellowing in the dress... it's just the slip showing through!).  The dress is Excellent, near mint condition with just one issue... and that is a small hole on the skirt at the back (see last two photos) which is 9" down from back waist and 2" across from back center seam - so near your butt).  As you can see, I photographed the same area over the white slip, and then just over my hand... and that's the difference... now you see it... now you don't!  :)  Side metal zipper.   Measures:  35" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 45" hips, 57"- 63" long... shorter at sides, longer in front and back.  Gives you that draped look which still letting you walk.  Love the puffed sleeves, yoke neckline, gathered bustline, empire tailoring, "v" waist at front, and back tie.  So sweet it makes your teeth hurt! :)

#6946 - c. Fall 1957 JAMES GALANOS Silk Giraffe Dress with Matching Jacket! Museum Deaccession with Original Museum Tag Donated by a High-Fashion Model of the 1950s!  I have to say I'm very picky about pieces I put on my website.  I only put up what I personally like. And thanks to Michelle Obama, I'm likin' a lot more classic looks... with panache. This is a killer silk (unique faille-like, slightly raised like brocade print) simple shaped sleeveless dress with interesting cut and great long crossover black silk sash belt.  Wear this dress with your headscarf ala Audrey and large sunglasses!!  Or add the double-breasted matching jacket trimmed in black satin.  Wear the collar of the jacket up or down.  Wear the jacket open or closed.  Everything seems to look terrific!  Wear the jacket alone with white or black slacks, or wear a solid dress under.  SO many possibilities!!  Measures: 34/35" bust, 25/26" waist, up to 37" hips, 40" long dress from shoulder to hem, 25" long jacket. Excellent condition! Fully lined.  Beautifully tailored!! Galanos at his best! Donated to the museum from Betsy Pickering... a high-fashioned model from the 1950's... mentioned in a Time Magazine article from 1961: "The cool all-American beauties (Sunny Harnett, Jean Patchett, Betsy Pickering) of the 50's are still around, but today a new set of faces dominates the glossy pages of the fashion magazines." Back metal zipper. Shown with crinoline which doesn't come with it. The buttons at front are just for decoration. Measures:  34/35" bust,  25" waist, 25" long skirt.  Excellent condition.

#6798 - c. 1960 Black Chantilly Lace Stiff Skirt Party Dress with Aubergine Bodice Lining from Museum! Ah, another one of those dresses that you'd expect to find a designer label... but no labels exist... that is except for the museum tag which dates this dress to 1960 and was given to the museum by Mrs. Wallace Gibbs.  Black Chantilly Lace boat neck bodice lined in an aubergine taffeta.  The skirt is masterful... a stiffened circle surrounded with ruched black silk with lace at lower portion... and prettied up with a large matching black bow.  Back metal zipper over snaps.  Excellent condition... The only issue is that the skirt needs to be professionally steamed back into shape.. and the taffeta under at back is slightly discolored (not seen under lace)... oh and the brass metal zipper is slightly sticky.  I love the slightly low waistline to show off the slender figure before you get to the poufy skirt! So have you been watching "Dancing with the Stars" or a few old Ginger Rogers movies and have been dreaming about wearing a gown that would float as you moved?  Well you can't beat this!  You will move like an angel!!  Achingly ethereal three layers of silk chiffon skirt... three different colors!  Off-white, blush pink and blush peach.  The boned bodice gives you all the sex appeal you want with the "Jessica Rabbit" bustline... one side gathered chiffon, the other side fully beaded and sequined in pink pearls, silver beads, clear sequins, and rhinestone.  The skirt is gathered an extra bit at that hipline (add a pin there if you want!).  The matching graduated color chiffon scarf (98" x 20") can be worn many ways.  I used a pin (that doesn't come with this gown) to gather at back for one look... I'm sure there are many other looks.  Back zipper.  Excellent condition  Measures: 34" bust, 27/28" waist. 40" long from natural waist to hem. #6637 - c. 1956 EDWARD ABBOTT, Neiman Marcus Black Silk Taffeta and Chantilly Lace Wiggle Dress with Waterfall Train! :)  Movie Star Glamour at it's best. Dated correctly by Vogue Magazine similar dresses, and also assuredly prior to 1957 when Wilson Folmar became head designer for the Edward Abbott label. The dress was sold at the prestigious Neiman Marcus store.  Exquisitely made with complicated tailoring and beautiful design.  The bodice has a wide off-the-shoulder neckline, with 3/4 quarter length lace sleeves.  There are two layers to the bodice to show off the lace and the flat bows at shoulders.  The skirt pleats at the hip over the wonderful lace waterfall train with bow.  Under the lace train are two layers of tulle. Back metal zipper. The dress needs no explanation, the photos show the wonderful silhouette this gown has. Measures: 34/35" bust (wide shoulders, smallish back), 26" waist, up to 37" hip, 44" long from shoulder to hem.  Near mint condition... the only thing that will need is for a tailor to fix the hemline to fit your body, as the upper skirt front and hips are meant to drape, so it the hemline has puckered on the mannequin. Once done, it's nearly flawless!!

#6082 - c. 1980's MARY MCFADDEN Finest Evening Gown Ever with Ornamental Genuine Red Branch Coral Belt!!  Oh my!!!  I know there are lots of Mary McFadden gowns out there... but I have NEVER seen anything quite so fabulous! May have easily been a runway gown and would probably have sold originally for around $6,000 in the mid-80s!  Using her classic Marii (Fortuny-like) pleats in the surprising wired skirt and sleeves, this gown evokes an Elizabethan-era with elongated fitted antique gold lace bodice and crenulated lace edging at hemline. You'd almost expect a neck ruff!  The lace belt is separate, with long thin gold threads on which red branch corals are tied! The gown can be worn with out without the belt as you like.  The lace sleeves aren't lined for a little breeze :)  The only equivalent McFadden gown I've seen (and likely from the same year and/or collection) is currently on exhibit at Ursuline College under the direction of Dr. Connie Korosec (check out the youtube.com video!).  Excellent condition with just some of the coral missing/broken - but absolutely replaceable for little money, one torn lace piece at hemline, and I presume misshapen skirt wire (I assume it was meant to be round, but perhaps not??).  The belt has no closures and is quite long (like it was never completed), so again, I wonder if this gown was a unique one-of-a-kind runway or sample gown. Measures:  32" bust,  24" waist, 46" long from waist to hem, 63" long from shoulders.

#6628 - c. 1930's Unique Print Gauzy Gown! Unique open-weave gauzy material (probably a cotton/linen blend - though doesn't seem prone to wrinkling) and even more unique print design of an Aesop Fable "The Fox and the Grapes".  Looks like it was silkscreen printed with fun dancing foxes.  He is clothed and carries a basket while standing under the grapes, which (according to the fable by Aesop -500BC), the fox is unable to reach.  Plunging "v" neckline, diamond shape at cleavage with runching, dropped waist, side metal zipper, floor length with sweeping full skirt.  A great collector's piece!  Measures: 34/35" bust, up to 28" waist, 62" long from shoulder to hem.  Excellent condition with just two extremely minor issues... the zipper is sticky, but works and there are two teeny spots at mid-back (see last photo).  Big deal!

Ain't I smart dating this dress! :)  However, if I was really that smart, I would know for absolute sure if the ruffles are supposed to be worn in the front or the back!  It's confusing, as the zipper is at "the back" under the ruffles, but the Dior dated and numbered couture label is attached at the front of the dress! I admit, I tried it both ways, but this seems correct as there are darts that seem to suggest "ruffles at back."   Besides, there are A LOT of ruffles and a bit overwhelming at front... and hard to sip soup! :)  Amazing construction of 6, count 'em 6 layers of skirt.  Printed poppy design tulle and chiffon layers, two sheer tulle layers, orange silk layer, and then peach lining. Excellent condition. Best for a small busted woman. Measures: 34" bust, 26" waist, 34/35" hips, 40" long from shoulder to hem.  A collectible and luscious piece of Dior fashion history!

#4833 - c. 1952 RARE and Bold PIERRE BALMAIN, Paris Scarlet Silk Faille Hostess Gown!  You don't see gowns like this every day!  This was some wealthy woman's entertainment "at home" gown... you know... just like we would wear today! :)  Her version of a velour track suit! :)  She had to have enough money to wear the best labels even at home!! The color is a gorgeous scarlet faille lined in dusty-pink taffeta with large silk corsage attached. The bolero jacket is really part of the dress, but can be worn slightly open or closed as you see it. Working front closure self-covered buttons.  Condition is just Good/Very Good as there are water spots and other spots blending into scarlet color.  The belt leather lining is gone and the buckle is dirty. The skirt lining shows large water spotting (see photo).  However, if you know how to clean this piece, then is is Excellent condition and very crisp.  Sadly not perfect... but still a rare find!  This is one of those "gotta have" pieces for your special vintage collection! Measures:  37/38" bust, 27/28" waist, 57" long from shoulder to hem.

#9710 - c. 1966 JEAN LOUIS COUTURE White Clear Iridescent Plastic Paillette Gown! One of my all time favorite movies is "Two For The Road" with Albert Finney and (my girl) Audrey Hepburn. In one of the scenes in the flick, Audrey is wearing a short version of this dress.. with matching drop earrings. I always thought it was an amazing piece. And so.... fast forward years later... I was offered this gown to sell and jumped at the chance! I figure I'm not the only one who coveted Audrey's dress! Guess we'll find out! AND this gown was designed by the famous Jean Louis Couture label! (most of you know Jean Louis as the designer of Marilyn Monroe's "Mr. President" gown.. as well as head designer for Columbia Pictures for 15 years 1944-1959 - most often dressing Rita Hayworth). Condition is Good.. One shoulder could use a few more paillettes, and the paillettes on the back butt are slightly bent from sitting. Sheer crepe sleeves, White lining. Measures: 34" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 38" hips, 52" long from shoulder to hem. Back metal zipper. I hate to suggest someone re-vamp a vintage dress.. but... for those of you who want... I might shorten to a dress.. then you have plenty of paillettes to use as necessary... and you ARE Audrey Hepburn!

#4351 - c. 1930's Electric Blue Lace Gown with Original Blue and Magenta Taffeta Rayon Slip! Tired of black? Get some color in your vintage wardrobe! How's this for different! Bright blue lace gown in a floral pattern bordered with Art Deco zig-zags It features extremely chic gigot sleeves that were the height of fashion in the early to mid-30s - they were heralded as an 1830s "revisited" style.  There is a bit of horsehair inside upper sleeve to attain a puff. The sexy low back dips seductively, and the row of 13 buttons. The waist is slightly raised in front and dips lower in back to emphasize curvy hips; the bias skirt falls gracefully to the floor. The original silky rayon underdress also plays a major role - its vivid magenta border peeks through to accent a sweetheart neckline and straps; a 10" magenta hem border swirls around the ankles. So you can wear the gown with this slip, or change the look and choose a nude or white slip! It's up to you! However, you'll have to be tiny for this dress if you wear it with the original slip (or you'll have to somehow increase the size of the slip). There is no give to the side snap slip, and it measures: 30" bust, up to 27" waist, up to 39" hips, 58" long slip from shoulder to hem. The dress has some stretch and will fit on me (tightly) with 34" bust, 60" long. Excellent condition for both pieces! Strong lace! It looks like one button may be missing from the very bottom at back, and I see one seam separation at bottom of slip (ah, if only I had a sewing machine!). It's a delightful survivor of the romantic fashions of the 1930s - the Great Depression era.

#6029 - c. 1960's DAVIS CHURCH Linen Color Block Metal Zipper Front Dress!  I was actually hoping to fit into this myself as it is labeled Size 6 - yeah right!  Don't believe it! Couldn't get it anywhere close to closing on my body.  Just shows you how much sizes have changed over the years. Great linen dress with heavy silver zipper up the front with the 1960's classic circle ring zipper tab!  Red linen bodice with slight low waistline and black and white large colorblocked skirt front and back. I don't know anything about the Davis Church label... looks London Mod to me, yet has a "Made in USA" label so it's a British knock-off.  Break out your white vinyl boots and download "These Boots are Made for Walking" to your Ipod! :) Fully lined. Excellent condition exterior.  The lining had a little color bleed through.  Measures: 30" bust, 26" waist, 34" hips,  (no give - these are the measurements!), 33" long from shoulder to hem.

Simple black satin dress with overlay of the finest sheer black chantilly lace in a tiered skirt. Wide satin waistband at slightly empire waist. Trimmed in tiny little crenellated design. Measures: 34" bust, 26" high waist/ribcage, up to 37" hips, 26" long from highest waist to hem. Excellent condition. #4406 - c. 1950's BLANKA E BERTA, Via Sistina, 76-76-a, Roma Black Silk Chiffon Pouf Dress! Ah, Audrey! This dress would look so amazing on you! Fabulous Italian dress with Rome designer label. I have been unable to find information on this particular label, but obviously a highly fashionable dress! The elongated bodice is fully and tightly horizontally gathered. The skirt is draped front and back over stiff round shaped paper-like pellon which creates the classic full bubble skirt! Cute little satin bows at each hip side. Measures: 38" bust, 30" waist, 25" long from natural waist to hem. Excellent condition except for the fact that the back metal zipper is not covered. NOTE: I JUST viewed another high fashion Italian 50's ballgown that had the same "not covered" zipper back... so perhaps it was the fashion of the Italian designers? Somebody out there knows! Just wish it was me! :) So, it's possible it's the original zipper and just badly resewn, but would not have originally looked similar (not a covered zipper, just sewn with edges touching to gently hide zipper). So.. with just a few dollars and a quick machine stitch, the dress will be good as new! Get yourself a pair of stiletto heels and create a sensation!

#1903 - c. 1950's Red Plum Silk Brocade Dress! Damn the woman who owned this dress. There is no question it would have had a great label.. as it's an extremely well-made garment! Sexy, but not revealing "v" neck, fitted waist, full slight bubble shaped skirt. Love the large pinwheel bows, one on bodice, one on skirt. Even the gold satin interior is lovely. Back metal zipper. Excellent condition. Might have had a re-hemming at one point, but hardly an issue. Measures: 36" bust, 25/26" waist, 23" long from waist to hem. Kills me to sell this dress. Waaahhhhh.
