Oh god, this is one of those pieces that is nearly impossible for me to let go! Fits me like it was made for me (even though I'm more 33" bust, 26" waist, 37" hips - still perfect - obviously not me, what kind of pear am I! :( Waaahhhh!! I always wondered what women wore that made them look like a million (of course these days that has to be billion) dollars... this is one of those! Slip on the skirt and put on the jacket and that's all you need. OK, and stiletto pumps. Measures: 36" bust, 28" waist, 31" long jacket, 36/37" hips, 22" long skirt from waist to hem with 2" extra in hem. Excellent, near Mint condition with the only issue that it was likely hemmed up and should probably be re-hemmed. I'm sure this cost more than this when new, as I have a Saks Fifth Avenue catalog from 1991 with a simple white silk Travilla dinner dress for $900!! And that's back in 1991 dollars!! For a silly little dress!! You know, of course, that Marilyn Monroe was the muse for Travilla... and perhaps her most famous, iconic white halter "subway grate" dress was his... So this is certainly a designer you want to wear! Approx. - SIZE 6/8

Click on image for additional photos!#6064 - c. 1950's Black Taffeta Fitted Dress with Soutache Embroidered Hemline with Black Tassels Over Rose Velvet!! This is one of those dresses pretty enough for you to figure out how to make it fit you! It's a small size, unfortunately, but WOW! Black silk taffeta dress with scoop neckline, and wide inset waist. Even if that was all that was going for it, it would be pretty enough... but, in addition... the lower skirt is covered with black soutache and studded with black faceted beads. NICE! Oh, and then... ta da... the best part of this dress... the tiny black silk tassels over the rose colored velvet at the hemline! Unique and sweet! Or sweetly unique! :) As you can see by the last photo... the dress is so small it wouldn't close on the size 2 mannequin... so again, if you want this dress, you will have to get creative at the back by adding material, or using matching rose velvet to create some kind of laced-up back. Something. Anything. Or if you are really lucky... this will fit the way it is! Get out that tape measure girls... and no cheating. Measures: 35" bust, 26" underbust, 23" waist, 25" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition with just a bit of white dust underarms. Metal zipper at back. Attached net crinoline under. $ 565.

Click on image for additional photos!#6033 - c. 1960's JOBERE by ANTHONY MUTO White Ribbon Ruffle Edge Cutout Dress with Matching Coat! Dress Like Michelle Obama! :) Hard to find Anthony Muto earlier works from the 1960s... like this! Anthony Muto designed gowns for several first ladies including Barbara Bush, Rosalynn Carter, Pat Nixon and Lady Bird Johnson. You'll find his pieces featured in museums exhibits including at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. The dress and coat are exactly the same....a white ribbon 3-diamentional ruffle design with sheer diamond cutouts. The dress is lined in a nude crepe to appear, well... nude. The coat is lined in a sheer gauze bone color. So they don't match exactly... that allows the dress to be more nude in appearance, and the coat to be more elegant.. so it looks like you are wearing the coat over perhaps a peek-a-boo dress. Wear together or separately to expand your wardrobe. Excellent, near mint condition with just a hint of light spot at back seat of coat and front bottom of dress (see photos - if you can't see the slight yellowing in the photos, it's because that's how insignificant it is!) . Measures: 34/35" bust, up to 30" waist, up to 40" hips, 39" long from shoulder to hem both dress and coat. Plastic zipper back. Approx. - SIZE 6
(all measurements are maximum, slightly smaller is OK!)

Click on image for additional photos!#6489 - c. 1989-1992 VICTOR EDELSTEIN, London Silk Velvet Mermaid Gown with High Gathered Neck and Cuffs and Great Button Back! Victor Edelstein was most closely associated with Princess Diana as he was one of her favorite designers. As a matter of fact, one of her most famous dresses was the Victor Edelstein ink blue silk velvet gown that Diana wore in 1995 when she made that tabloid splash dancing with John Travolta at the White House!! Even the Madame Tussauds wax statue of Diana is said to be wearing an Edelstein! I date this gown to 1992 as that was the first year of his ready-to-wear collection. Prior to that it was couture/made to order only. However, Edelstein used this same deep wine silk velvet was in other dresses from 1989, so the exact date is a bit confusing. Gorgeous color and shape!! Jet buttons down back. Very good condition as there is a bit of velvet crushing at the back left upper sleeve (perhaps a shoulder bag) and a slight pulling of the seams of the back tush (see photos). Neither of those issues are of any importance... but there is one thing to mention that is, depending on where you wear the dress. There is a velvet "ring" (like a water ring) on the bustline which is seen under some bright lights, but completely disappears under evening lights. So... I have photos of both. Perhaps it's something a dry-cleaner can steam out, but whatever... it's there now. Though when I first saw the dress, it wasn't seen at all. Only when I photographed it under the lights.... Measures: 37/38" bust, up to 29" waist, up to 38" hips, 59" long from shoulder to hem. Padded shoulders. Cranberry silk lining feels great on.

Have you heard the new report that claims that men are most attracted to women in red?? True! Gorgeous red silk chiffon crepe dress with sexy, tight, double spaghetti straps of tank-top shaped bodice. Then comes the wiggle skirt with the double lengths of handkerchief hem attached overskirt! Check out the close-up photos to see the pretty curved waistline seaming. Back metal zipper. Measures: 32/33” bust, 25/26” waist, up to 36" hips, 40” long from shoulder to hem. There is a 3” hem, so the dress was likely longer originally, but I like this length. Very good condition, but not perfect as there are some pulls in the material and some of the stress points of seams have minor pulls. I found one spot on the front, and a bit of dirt at the hemline (under). No one is going to inspect your dress when you are wearing it. Rather they will just say “wow”! The person who had this dress previously said of the dress “there is no damage of any kind”, so that just shoes how picky I am!! Looks SO pretty on! The overskirt moves with you. OOH! J

This could easily have been one of those fun, funky Moschino dresses from the 80's, but it's a surprising Bill Blass. Must be from the same collection as the pearl necklace Blass dress I sold recently. The entire upper bodice is embellished with multi-sized faux pearls... along with the bottom of the dress.. and then the "pearl buttons" down front. Super thin angel hair spaghetti straps. Ooh, and then the 3-layered pleated super sheer ruffle at the hemline. Back zipper. Measures: 32" bust, 28" waist, up to 37" hips, 28" long to end of dress, 35" long to hemline end of ruffle. Labeled a size 6, but seems sizes have changed even from the 80's, or this was tailored. Excellent condition. Approx. - SIZE 2/4

Nothing like I would assume would have a Donna Karan label. Zipper front, along with zipper pockets and a zipper neck (for no reason). #6382 - c. 1980's Ruched Look Party Dress! Absolutely unique fabrication and print on a wonderfully sexy dress. However you can tell by the construction that it is a high-end and brilliant little number. The fabric is an abstract floral pink, lavender, gray and black fabric that is horizontally pleated into micro-mini "ribbons". I don't know how else to explain it. Just look at the close-up photos to see the material! It's just FABULOUS! The dress has a low squared neckline, form-fitted torso with flirty balloon ruffled sleeves and hemline. This dress came from a studio wardrobe department, so you never know where you might find it on the silver screen! :) So imagine you are watching movie with your friends and there it is! Wouldn't it be incredible to say to your friends, "Oh my god, I OWN that dress!" Measures: 32" bust, 27" waist, up to 36" hips (tops!), 33" long from shoulder to hem. However can be worn totally off the shoulder if you want! Or use double-stick tape to keep sleeves just off shoulder. Back zipper. Near Mint condition. Please note: the mannequin was too small for the dress, so I showed you what the dress might look like if you were to get creative at back with grommets and ribbon! :) Approx. - SIZE 2/4 (small bust)

Maybe I'm crazy, but the white embroidery on this navy cotton/linen dress just seems to me to have been lifted from some Jane Austen regency gown. Maybe the designer had a previous life? Whatever, it's lovely and different. You can wear this dress with or without a crinoline... looks great either way (I show it both ways, but no crinoline comes with it). Unlined as it's a summer dress. Metal zipper back. Excellent condition! I did notice some tiny phantom stitches at the bodice (on extremely close inspection), so I assume this dress originally had a white bow there... so I show an example of that as well (also doesn't come with it. If you like the idea, just get some ribbon and make your own). Measures: 39" bust, up to 31" waist, up to 43" hips. $ 385.

Click on image for additional photos!#6632 - c. 1980's TOMASZ STARZEWSKI Black Chantilly Lace Dress! Here's your chance to dress like a real Princess! Tomasz Starzewski is a British designer who started his career in 1981 designing eveningwear for celebrities and royals... most notably for the late Diana, Princess of Wales and Sarah Ferguson. By the early '90s he had built one of the UK's most exclusive and socially coveted women's labels, encapsulating elegance and luxury, and with a design philosophy of 'glamour, pure glamour'. His dress prices START at about $1800! This one would have likely cost more. Gorgeous fine black Chantilly lace over a white satin. Scalloped hemline, fitted bodice, "v" low waistline seaming and full gathered skirt. Back zipper. I added the black satin ribbon/bow at the waist, but it doesn't come with it, and looks great with or without... I just had fun. I also added some crinolines under, but looks fine without as well. Fashionable Tea length or Ballet Length. Near Mint condition. Straps are perfect width for a bra under. Yeah! Measures: 32/33" bust, 27/28" waist, 50" long from shoulder to hem. Approx. - SIZE 4

This "Little Black Dress" is more Chanel than Chanel... and no surprise since Karl Lagerfeld took over the house of Chanel in 1983. Don't wear this dress if you expect to be amorous... by the time you finish unbuttoning the 30 buttons at the front of the dress, he will likely be out of the mood and will be watching a baseball or football game! Hard to date as it is TIMELESS!! Excellent condition. One pinhole? I think I saw it once, but I can't find it again! Measures: 32/33" bust, 24/25" waist, up to 34" hips, 37" long from shoulder to hem. Has an under corset inside - beautifully made. Very expensive when new. Click on image for additional photos!#6490 - c. 1992/93 BRUCE OLDFIELD COUTURE, Custom Made, London Blue Taffeta Dress with Huge Pearl Ornament at Side! I was lucky enough to be at the Princess Diana Dress Auction just prior to her death... and that was my first introduction to Bruce Oldfield who was one of Diana's favorite designers. He also designed for many other famous customers including Jerry Hall, Barbra Streisand, Catherine Zeta-Jones as well as other leading members of the British and European aristocracy. He was awarded an OBE in 1990 for his services to the fashion industry. In 1993, he decided to provide an exclusively couture service. I can't date this dress exactly, though it reminds me so much of the famous Diana "Camillagate" dress, that I figure 1992/93 is about right. Unique blue color that can hardly be described with that great huge pearl ornament at side! Tulip hemline and long side scarf. Wide sexy "V" neckline. Zip AND hooked back and zip cuffs. Very good condition with a few issues, minor pulls upper arm, minor spots that blend in with taffeta on sleeve, cuff, hip, scarf (see photos). Oh, and a tiny lining waist tear - lining only! Measures: 36/38" bust, 28" waist, up to 39" hips, 35" long shoulder to hem, 20" long skirt. Still a RARE custom couture dress! Approx. - SIZE 8

My bedroom growing up was pink walls with a green shag carpet (yes, shag was actually "in" back then!)... and Spring is my favorite time of year because of all the pink apple blossoms and magnolias and light green leaf buds. So, you have to know just how much I love the fabric of this dress (not to mention the shape!). A gorgeous floral metallic brocade. Fitted bodice has a huge bow covering breasts. Skirt has slight bubble shape. Measures: 34" bust, 25/26" waist. Fully lined. Back metal zipper. Net crinoline under is pinned on and can easily be removed if you wish. Excellent condition. Awesome! SOLD#5012 - c. 1980's CHRISTIAN DIOR BOUTIQUE Numbered Black Silk and Satin Evening Jacket with Huge Attached Gold and Rhinestone Cross! I want to keep this sooo badly! But it's too large for me. Waaahhh! This came from a huge estate of all designer clothing from the 80s... many bought in Paris. The black silk and satin empire jacket alone would be enough to excite me, but oooh, then the ornamental gorgeous gold and rhinestone cross with bow! Even the great gold and rhinestone squar buttons on the sleeves. Perfection! Excellent condition with just one minor pull on shoulder (see photos) and a slight dust smudge on front (one drycleaning is all that needs). Measures: 37/38" bust, 32" long from shoulder to hem. SOLD#6380 - c. 1960's Saks Fifth Avenue (early OLEG CASSINI) Black Silk Chiffon Dress with Cutouts and Bows at Back! Although I first though this to be a Sophie Original label due to a similar gown I had: http://www.antiquedress.com/item9215.htm... turns out it's just as special as it's an early OLEG CASSINI dress (a matching vintage dress was discovered - by a website fan - THANKS! - with the original Cassini tag inside!). The dress is a black silk chiffon over a black silk lining. The "v" bodice and diamond shaped front waist are sheer black chiffon over nude lining!! Sexy babe! The sheer upper back has no nude lining. The neckline is boatneck and the dress is sleeveless. The dress is trimmed in black satin "wrap" giving a Grecian feel. Just fabulous!! Additional little bows snap at the back over metal zipper. Excellent, near Mint condition. Red Carpet ready! Measures: 31" bust, 24/25" waist, 38" long from shoulder to hem, 23" from waist to hem. Incredible multicolored embroidery of flowers, birds and cranes, butterflies, etc. The back has slightly less embroidery just like the short sleeves. The lapels and border trim is just the perfect design feature! AWESOME! If you love the look of the 1920's embroidered shawls, but want something much easier to wear, there is nothing better! Amazingly.. this has the original "Made in China" label and, I still can't believe it's not silk, but it says" cotton/linen!!! Perhaps that's why it's in such incredible condition!! But you will swear it's silk! I have to date this bolero based on the slightly puffed wide shoulders and often worn fashionable bolero shape worn over the slinky 1930's gowns. Tight across back is going to fit a size 0/2 the best. I have tried it on (I have a sort of small back, but wear a size 4 and it fits, but as I say, better for smaller). Near Mint condition. Measures: 15" long from shoulder to hem, 13.5" across back Also Listed in the 1850-1930s Category. Approx. - SIZE 0/2

Going to a summer wine tasting party and want to wear the perfect dress? I have this love of white cotton pique. Can't even tell you why, but I guess it's something in my genes. Anyway, this white pique dress is quite special with what looks to be hand-embroidery around the "v" neckline with cut outs, and on the skirt front and back. Stunning and sexy. Comes with the original matching sash belt which I show in the other photos. Wear with or without, or with a red belt. Back metal zipper. Measures: 40" bust, up to 32" waist, up to 41" hips, 24" long from waist to hem, 40" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition. I think I saw one pinhole near the hemline, but can't find it again on quick review. Bright white like new. The belt looks ever so slightly dingier, so perhaps just a quick bleaching of the belt? Hardly an issue. It's just that the whiteness of the dress is surprisingly great for a vintage dress!! Unlined cotton, so PERFECT for HOT SUMMER DAYS! Approx. - SIZE 10/12

The changeable color blue silk is not as "electric blue" as it looks, but a deeper royal blue. However under certain lights, the changeable silk will look brighter, or darker depending! The kind of ballgown that every little Princess dreams of when a little girl. Or, perhaps that was just me? Nah.... I know there are others like me out there! :) Wonderful elaborate black velvet design adorns the huge puffed sleeves and the front and back of the skirt. Beautifully tailored and impeccably ornamented... I don't even know how they did it! The design is not appliquéd, but more cut into the fabric... probably too expensive a procedure to bother with today! This was one expensive gown when new! Fitted black silk velvet bodice with dropped waistline to show off torso. To be worn nearly off the shoulder. Shown with extra crinoline under skirt. Mint condition. Back zipper. Large puffy sleeves, wide midriff, pleated collar detail., smocked shoulders. The back has ties which can be tied as tails, or create a bow with tails (see photos). SOLD#4727 - c. 1965 SAMUEL WINSTON by Roxane Red and White Checked Mod Dress with Matching Jacket! Samuel Winston by Roxane was a fairly expensive line. And you can tell, as the tailoring of the designs are terrific. This particular outfit was from a museum collection, and was designed exclusively for Neusteters department store. This fabric of this outfit is very hard to explain... It's a man-made fabric of some kind, not sure what... but if feels almost like a heavy raincoat material. So what is that??? A blend of nylon and polyester? Whatever it is, it was "state of the art" from the mod 1960's. Simple A-line shape sleeveless dress with that great empire attached belt with large white plastic decorative squares. Back metal zipper. Comes with the matching short boxy jacket with white buttons, decorative only pocket flaps. Measures: 35" bust, up to 32" waist, 36/37" hips, 40" long dress from shoulder to hem, 19" long jacket from back neck to hem. Excellent condition, near mint condition with just the slightest dirt at the neckline of the dress. Note: the dress has fairly high underarms, so no large upperarms. # 7741 - c. 1997 MOSCHINO COUTURE, Made in Italy Iconic "BRICK WALL" Blazer or Suit Jacket! This brick pattern was perhaps the most unique design back in the heyday of Moschino in the 1990s. Often found in museums, "The 'brick wall' suit is a classic example of the House of Moschino’s use of conceptual incongruity. This simple, meticulously constructed woman’s pantsuit is straightforward in style and silhouette, but the surface design, printed bricks, envelops the wearer like the façade of a building." It was considered so iconic, that they brought back the design in 2012 for Moschino's menswear collection. However Moschino wasn't the only one to favor the brick print... there was Jean Paul Gaultier, Todd Oldham, Patrick Kelly, costume designer Adelle Lutz. AND all the way back to 1929, brick printed hosiery was used in the Ballets Russes and Marcel Rochas used brick shape design for a jacket in the 1930s! But NONE (in my view) are as great as Moschino's version! You can see it in the 1997 Moschino ad, and as worn by Fran Drescher in an episode of "The Nanny". Mint condition jacket. Size 12 (labeled). Measures: up to 40" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 42" hips, 18" across back, 17" across shoulders. $ 675. SOLD

SOLD#4600 - c. 1960's PIERRE CARDIN "Jeunesse", Paris, Made in France Purple Tweed Suit with Matching Coat! Hand Labeled and Deaccessioned from Museum! Dress Like a Lady! Actually Jeunesse is the youth line, but as you can see, this is COUTURE level with the hand-written tags on both the jacket and the coat! They match exactly, but I suppose the two different names allow for customers who wanted to buy the suit as a skirt and coat, or to buy the suit as a skirt and jacket...or as this original customer did... to buy all three pieces to mix and match!
