#4058 - c. 1890 Museum Quality Tambour Embroidery Wool Robe Museum! Wow! That was about all I could say when I first set my eyes on this robe. Base is a black wool with a rust-colored velvet yoke and cuffs with black beaded trim at cuff. The beauty of this piece is the green, purple, ecru and brown embroidery of long graduated vines of grapes and leaves. The embroidery down the front on both sides is straight line but matching. Nice black flat rope braiding design at upper back and trim on the velvet with bow at neck. The robe is unlined but has an orange silk ruffle at the interior hemline. There is minor wool fading, and small holes here and there (some repaired, others have backing, so they don't jump out at all!), and the rust velvet is dingy and worn... yet the knowledgeable dealer who inspected this prior to myself called it just plain Excellent condition (guess I'm pickier!). Faded lining. Still all in all a remarkable piece to survive the ravages of over a hundred years of hungry moths! :) Best for a short gal of 5'0' - 5'2" if you want it to slightly train. Also listed in the Lingerie Section.

#4359 - c. 1930's Black Silk Velvet Gown with Bolero! Wow! Sexy black velvet bias cut evening gown with bolero jacket with ruffled short puffed sleeves which stripe black to white. Dress has black chiffon on top part of bodice which bolero covers when worn with it. The shoulder straps have been extended at the back with black elastic, which I will leave, but this allows for a longer waist and larger bustline. It's a quick change to take that out, if desired. Size you ask??? Well... since it's bias, it will stretch to fit a variety of bodies.. So.. if you are interested in this dress, please just email me your measurements (no cheating... get out the tape measure!) and I will let you know how it will work on you. Length about 57 inches, but will change depending on your size. Excellent condition. There is no closure at the front bolero... I just used a rhinestone bow pin (but it doesn't come with the dress). Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

# 7173 - c. 1930's LARGER SIZE Royal Blue Silk Chiffon Dress with Lace! OK, for all you who say "Don't you have any larger sizes?" or "I'll never fit into vintage.", I always try to find pretty dresses in larger sizes.  Most of the time when I find larger, I don't like the dress.... and I only sell what I like.   Hopefully the fact that I'm showing this dress on the larger mannequin will make those of you who have been looking for this to stop in your tracks. Royal blue silk chiffon with a slightly dropped waist and great 30s seaming in the skirt below the hips.  Lovely fluttering "shawl" sleeves with an ecru lace panel at the front bodice.  Tiny, sweet rhinestone "bow" buckle at thin matching belt.  And to top it off, the original matching chiffon floral "corsage" is still attached with streamers.  The dress is lined as you see. Measures:  up to 45" bust, up to 42" waist, up to 44" hips, 47" long from shoulder to hem.  The condition is Excellent with some exceptions.  There are minor, hard to see spots here and there (see photos ... if you barely see the spots, that's because they are barely visible, some are reddish, some dark gray), and in the last photo, you will see the interior chiffon lining that has pulled away from the back which should be resewn - but I don't sew, so best for you to get it done right.  Very easy for someone... other than me! :)  Otherwise, it's really very wearable and quite sturdy for a chiffon dress!   Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

# 7172 - c. 1930's LARGER SIZE Ivory 2-piece Dress with Jacket! And again... for all you who say "Don't you have any larger sizes?" or "I'll never fit into vintage.", I always try to find pretty dresses in larger sizes.  Most of the time when I find larger, I don't like the dress.... and I only sell what I like.   Hopefully the fact that I'm showing this dress on the larger mannequin will make those of you who have been looking for this to stop in your tracks.  I'm sick about the fact that this dress doesn't photograph well, because it's so classy and classic.  Simple, basic ivory dress with short sleeves, pleats only at front and back, and an attached embroidered neck "tie".  Then comes the matching overjacket... meant to be worn open as you see with no closures.  Love the small pockets at the sides, the bell sleeves and the little seaming detail at the upper back.  I have to wonder if this was just a great summer outfit, or perhaps used for sporting like crochet or even tennis.  Hard to know for sure.  I purchased this originally to use in a local production of "The Women", but I loved it so much, I didn't want it to be ruined, so I kept it for you.  Measures:  up to 44" bust, up to 38" waist, up to 44" hips, 51" long from shoulder to hem.  The condition is Excellent with some extreme minor exceptions... there is some "dusty dirt"... I can only call them "phantom marks".  You will hardly see them, but I like to tell you everything.  Oh, and the original belt is missing, but any will do, or none.   Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

# 11216 - c. 1930's Cranberry Red Lace Gown with Rhinestone Belt and Circle Sleeves! LARGER SIZE!  OK, I don't really have a clue what to call these sleeves, but I wanted your attention so you don't think they are regular sleeves. They are a long oval circle and the dress is open at the side... so it's like sleeveless... with sleeves! :)  Figure that out!  Lovely gown with draping at front creating a little extra draping at the front bias skirt.  As you can see, you will need to wear a slip under (doesn't come with one).  You can wear nude or red or whatever color you like... each color will give a slightly different look.  Though this lace is fairly tight so you'll see less of the undergarment.   Measures: up to 40" bust, up to 35" waist, up to 43" hips.  The belt currently measures 39"... but it's easy to fix to your perfect waist size.  61" long from shoulder to hem.   Excellent condition.  If there are any leg breaks in the lace, I haven't found them!  But it's quite intricate, and with any lace dress you may need a few stitches here and there, but again, I can't find a thing wrong.. even the rhinestone buckle is excellent.  (Note: this is a "blueish red", not an "orange red". And please remember, It's 80 years old.  NEW LISTING!   Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

# 11211A - c. 1930's Horizontal Striped Open Knit Convertible Dress/Gown!  Don't get confused.  I'm only selling ONE dress here... but it's CONVERTIBLE!  As you can see, the first photo is a calf length dress.... and the other photo is a long gown length.  The dress is made to flip over and blouson at the slightly low waistline... and then when/if you want the gown length, you just pull down!  Voila!  This is SO modern, but it's from the 1930's.  SO different from what you normally see!!  It's not totally perfect condition... just needs a few very easy stitches at the neckline (see photos)... something I could probably do, but I'm a lousy seamstress, so best for me to leave it alone.  So the only REAL issue is one small spot at the low waistline (see photos). Don't know if it will come out, but it's really a small price to pay for this unique 1930's piece!  There may be some color bleed in one area of the edge of hem, but I'm not sure if it's a problem or original.  I photographed it.  Has an old "44" size label.  Measures:  Stretchy so hard to measure! 48" long from shoulder to hem hiked up, 57" long when pulled down. This could have been a beach cover-up.  Fairly open weave... just be aware! NEW LISTING!   Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

# 7291 - c. 1930's Black Silk Jersey Evening Gown Trimmed in Black Bugle Beads! The price of this gown will give you some idea of the quality of this piece... as there is no label or any other way for you to know.  I can explain all I want, but it's in the handling of this gown that proves the point... and that's the one thing you can't do over the internet (OK, you can't smell it either, but that's of no consequence here, so...).   The material is a heavy silk jersey that gives this gown the movement of the wonderfully tailored "mermaid" skirt which Ginger Rogers would have loved!  In the last photo, I show the skirt with a hoop slip under so you can see just how full it is at the hemline.  Then the bustline, straps, hemline and wide front "belt" is all trimmed in black bugle beads in decorative designwork.  Snaps at the side. Excellent condition with one teeny tiny exception of one teeny tiny pinhole on back upper skirt.  See photo.  It's SOOO easy for an expert to reweave or hide just by wearing or backing in black, but I want you to know it's there. Side snaps.  If you have only one 1930s black gown, this is the one you should have.  Measures: 35" bust, up to 28" waist, up to 34/35" hips, 57" long from shoulder to hem.  Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

#6544 - c. late 1930's Multicolored Embroidered Black Silk Evening Bolero!  The most gorgeous bolero jacket EVER!!!  Incredible multicolored embroidery of flowers, birds and cranes, butterflies, etc. The back has slightly less embroidery just like the short sleeves.  The lapels and border trim is just the perfect design feature!  AWESOME!  If you love the look of the 1920's embroidered shawls, but want something much easier to wear, there is nothing better! Amazingly.. this has the original "Made in China" label and, I still can't believe it's not silk, but it says" cotton/linen!!!  Perhaps that's why it's in such incredible condition!! But you will swear it's silk!  I have to date this bolero based on the slightly puffed wide shoulders and often worn fashionable bolero shape worn over the slinky 1930's gowns. Tight across back is going to fit a size 0/2 the best. I have tried it on (I have a sort of small back, but wear a size 4 and it fits, but as I say, better for smaller). Near Mint condition. Measures: 15" long from shoulder to hem, 13.5" across back   Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

#4547 - c. 1930's A Registered Original Design with Fashion Originators Guild Printed Chiffon Gown with Matching "Blouse/Jacket"! LARGER SIZE! If you have read through enough of my rantings and ravings, you will know that I rarely like prints. I find most of them too jarring, just too much. Perhaps it's because I'm small and short (Thank goodness there are a few other midgets...ah, er, shorties like Eva Longoria "in vogue"! ) and I think I become invisible under all that print. OR maybe... I just don't like prints! :) Did you ever think of THAT!? However... I DO like this print.. therefore it gets a place on my website. Lucky dress! I'm also a sucker for gray, so that helps. Gray background silk chiffon printed with fuchsia tulips and green leaves. Comes with the matching original belt, the original huge silk flower at bust (however, that is stained and tired so you might want a new flower) AND comes with the original matching overblouse/jacket which can be worn straight and open, or tied up (I shown both way). I like the gown separately myself.. and then use the blouse for other outfits. Measures: up to 42" bust, up to 38" waist!! up to 42" hips, 56" long from shoulder to hem. Marked size 40. Original taupe silk slip is attached. Excellent condition with the following mentions... minor spots on the slip, and minor darkening at the back of one armhole - difficult to see due to design and color (see close-up photos).   Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

#2690 - c. 1921 Black Evening Dress of Black Silk Tulle with Complete Sequin and Beaded Bodice with Orchids! Wanna flapper dress that will amaze your friends? Or are you an orchid lover and think you just died and went to heaven to find this dress? A beauty. A body conscious black sequined bodice sprinkled with purple and lavender (with hint of green, brown and yellow) beaded orchids! And then a full-bodied black tulle skirt. Fully netted bell sleeves with black sequin design. Tulle bow at hip. Beaded diagonal hemline. In Very Good/Excellent condition.. especially for such a delicate piece. The few minor flaws are some beads missing at the hemline, one slight hemline cut, and slight browning of the netting at the bottom of the upper hemline (see photos). If you like the photos, you will love the dress! Don't expect it to be slimming on... that was not the look of the time.. the hips will look larger. Measures: up to 35" bust, 27" waist, 50" long from shoulders (but you want to be smaller than the measurements for this to fit the best). So gently wear, display or collect. #3624 - c. 1909 Embroidered Ecru Wool Day Dress! So hard to believe that those nasty little moths stayed off of this dress for nearly 100 years!!! Perhaps they took one look at the dress and said "Let's go elsewhere.. this dress is too pretty to eat up!". Somehow I doubt it, but it would be a cute children's story! :) Lovely ecru fine wool gown with two tiered skirt (allowing for the wool to create a near ruffle at the hemline!) Gorgeous white lace at extreme high collar (very desirable for collectors) and long "undersleeves". The design on the bodice is pretty brown embroidery on net with rope trim. Extremely small gown.. sorry.. great for your 10-year-old... or perfect for a display gown! Measures: 28/29" bust, 22" waist, 36" hips, 56" long from shoulder to hem. Excellent condition with the only issue is that a section of netting is gone at back shoulder (see photos).. not noticeable as it's nearly invisible netting.

#5001 - c. late 1880's Silk off-White Faille-like Trained Reception Gown with Moss Green Silk Bows/Trim and Lace! Near MINT condition! I bought this gown a long time ago for my personal collection. It's been living in a garment bag and I believe I finally heard her scream to "get out!" She had every right! She's way to fabulous to be tucked away.. Too small to wear, unless you are about 12, but would make a wonderful display piece... since it's in absolutely amazing condition... and still incredibly white (well, off-white, the color she is supposed to be! No dinginess from age! She's like Dorian Gray! I have no clue how she survived in such wonderful condition for 130 years. The fabric is a heavy faille-like silk, the front panel has draping of same color china silk fashioned with all original 7 moss colored green silk bows. Same silk trims the extreme high neck and cuffs... along with lace. Even has the original lace under the hem of the dress.. on the inside.. all the touches you'd want to see. Closes with hook and eye down the front, but the eye is actually more like a sewn buttonhole. Absolutely clean and strong! Like new!!!! Dates to pre-1880 with the seam over the shoulder (as you can see in the close-up photos), and has the pocket near the back of the skirt, also dating to that period. Measures: 29" bust, 11" across back between arm seams, 23" waist, 50" long from shoulder in front, 67" long in back. Tiny.. but top of the line for your collection!

#3506 - c. 1909 Black Dinner or Reception Gown of Black Dotted Net Elaborately Decorated with Braid and Satin Rouleau! There are many boring antique black gowns, you know.. everyone has one or two from their Great Aunt or Great Grandmother found in old boxes in the attic. They must have been stored away on the off-chance that someone died, so the mourning clothing was always within reach. However.... just imagine the lucky girl who opened the old box from her Great Grandmother and pulled out this treasure! No boring black gown here! Details practically popping off the net fabric... so highly decorated! The boring black taffeta is under as the lining. The gown is covered all over with silk trim, soutache/rouleau and satin ribbons. Desirable high neck. Long sleeves with cuffs. Excellent condition exterior. The interior polished cotton lining has some tears in the bodice exposing some cracking stays, and the petersham is tearing. But please, pay attention to the exterior! #1137 - c. 1870-1890 Amazing Mechanical Italian Paper Painted Fan with Mirror! Paper fans don't get any better than this! A very similar fan is listed in a fancy Italian book called "Ventagli Italiani" published in 1990 by Marsilio Editori. The book is actually the catalogue of an exhibition which took place in Florence at the Palazzo Pitti (that's the Pitti Palace for us Americans) from Sept 21 - Nov 15, 1990. All the information from the book is written in Italian, but the gist is that this fan was a souvenir fan from the late 1800's. I can figure out the words "decorata" yes, it's decorated; "meccanismo di apertura" yes, it opens mechanically; "legno d'olivo" and "oveale molato" which I believe is olive wood and oval mirror. Anyway, you can see the photos of there fan at the bottom of the page of the photos of My fan. Condition is Terrific for this age paper fan. Mechanics are good as new! The painting is slightly worn (as it the painting on the exhibition fan). The mirror is in tact. The original tassels are on. The painting of the bird on the otherside of the closed fan is great. How it works... you pull on the tassel at the top and the fan spreads out open.. to close, you push down on the top tassel and it folds up into the wood. FABULOUS! Don't miss out. Fan prices are climbing especially advertising and perhaps souvenir fans aren't far behind!

#2113 - c. 1905 Sensational Japan Influenced Battenberg Tape Lace Bell Sleeve JacketVERY WEARABLE SIZE!  I have owned this jacket for many years now.  Frankly I wasn't planning to sell it, but had someone asking me for a 1905 era jacket to wear for an event, and so I pulled this out.  And once out, it was crying to go to a new home!  The sublime beauty of this piece (beside the obvious) is that it can be worn by a medium size gal to a larger gal, all depending if you wear it closed as you see it, or just left open at front.  The back is plenty wide to fit a size 14/16.  The design is unique! Ecru tape lace intricately assembled with rich pearl gray and ecru patterned woven tape.  Nicely raised detail with picots and button hole stitches to the filler bars. All hand assembled.  Large bell sleeves. Excellent condition with extreme minor leg breaks.  Measures:  34 - 40" bust, 33" long from shoulder to hem.

#1442 - c. late 1800's Rare Gold Lame Brocade Evening Lace Up Boots! I call these rare since I rarely see them! And I spend all my time looking, so I guess you can call me an expert on what's plentiful and what isn't. Aren't they terrific? Have you seen any like this before?? Gold lame brocade which look darker out of the light, and lighter in the light. The condition of the boots in Great except for two things... there are really no laces (these were in them when I bought them, but they are not long enough - I'd get some great gold lame rope!) and the fact that the lame has indeed oxidized which has created small green spots here and there and then the one boot has green all at the top which also has a tiny bit of wear on the inside leather there. Now I've been told that something called CLR and/or Whink could help the oxidation, but others have said that they don't know anything that will help. I refuse to try Whink since I don't trust myself with a bottle marked "Poison... can be Fatal". Just seems I'd rather live with a little green on my boots than be dead! But perhaps that's just me!!! Bottom line here is if you can clean these, they are close to perfect and certainly museum-type look! 9.5" long from heel to toe and 2.75" at widest. Smaller than my size 6.5 foot.

#4223 - c. 1915 White Linen Cutwork 3-piece Walking Summer Suit! Someone else had called this a Traveling Ensemble. I don't know what makes it mostly suitable for travel, but hey... sounds good! It was also represented as "English".. though there is no label, so I can only pass on that piece of information. Wonderful outfit! Whitework embroidery and cutwork trim. Pretty scalloped edges of jacket. 3/4 length sleeves. The vest ties at the waist with string to create a blouson style. seems smaller across the back mostly. Excellent condition.. crisp, strong, white linen. There is just a hint, that's a hint (have I made myself clear... a hint) of yellowing and minor dirt on and behind the lowest button on jacket. Measures: Up to 48" bust on jacket (meant to be worn large and loose), 32" waist on skirt, 37" ankle length skirt, up to 39" hips. Jacket is 15" across back and 35" long. You will probably want to have the opposite body-type than me.. I'm thin waist, wide hip. This should work best on thicker waist, small hips (in my next life I'll have cute little hips, but alas... I'm made for childbirthing!

#3188 - c. 1930 Black Lace Evening Gown with Original Slip! LARGER SIZE! I'm cheating a bit here. This category is only supposed to go up to 1929, but this was so close to the era, and I thought it would appeal to those of you who like the late 1920's, so.... here it is. Easily wearable straight style with a very interesting waist/hip detail of a black silk crepe chevron inset in front and matching one in the back, meeting at the sides. Measures (although hard to know for sure since it's a bias cut with "give): up to 38" bust, up to 42" hips, 55" long from shoulder to hem, silk organdy Excellent condition with rose lace. Original black slip is attached. Side snaps. You will want to find a nude bra to wear under so the straps don't show. I'd suggest a strapless, but I hate them - am I the only one? They don't seem to work very well for my "c" cup! I showed with a bit of lace "flower" at bust in one photograph.

#4242 - c. 1929 Printed Chiffon Dress with Matching Jacket! Makes you just pray for a soft breeze to gently tease the floral chiffon hemline ... and, oh wouldn't it be lovely if we could all live the perfect moments of our lives in "slow-motion"! :) If so, you really would need this dress to make the most of it. "Floaty, sheer, ethereal...(and lots of other words you can fill in yourself)". The dress is fairly simple, and fairly straight in the front with the low-hipped "belt" (which is really just pleated material.) The back of the dress dips to a slightly lower hemline with lots more gathered material to make the skirt full at back. "V" neck front and back. The matching chiffon jacket has no closures, just meant to be worn open, and has a floppy bow at one shoulder.

# 11217 - c. 1930's Black Crepe Gown with Rhinestones with T-Back! I know this photo just looks like a black blob, but trust me, it's an interestingly tailored gown.  Look at the close-up and lightened photos to see for yourself.  Those ties around the upper back come around and become the belt!  Cool!  Measures: up to 34" bust, up to 25" waist, up to 36" hips, 54" long from shoulder to hem (so it's for shorter gals).  Rhinestones are interspersed all over.  And that great "T" back!  Side snaps.  Excellent condition with the following exceptions:  1) There is a very light fade/spot at front of bodice middle which was likely from a pin or clip (so just use another), 2) the rhinestone buckle is needs rhinestones replaced.  But still looks fine as is, 3) as with many 1930's dresses, the seam thread has weakened over time, so best to get someone with a sewing machine to just go over all the seams.. especially at the back skirt as they have already come undone.  This is an EASY FIX.. but I don't have a sewing machine and I'm all thumbs so I would probably sew the dress to my finger!  Then I'd have blood all over your dress.  We don't want that!! ;)   Much prettier in person... as the sparkles, sparkle!   Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

#0948 - c. 1925 Deep Chocolate/Black Velvet Flapper Dress with Glorious Gold and Silver Beading, Sequins and Rhinestones! I found an etching of a similar dress by Parisian master, Molyneux, in the "Authentic French Fashions of the Twenties" book by JoAnne Olian... dating the dress to 1925. I love the look of the hemline.. has a royal crown look! Some of the softest silk velvet you will ever feel (looks somewhere between brown and black, depending on the light). The beading is amazing in person! SO sparkly with gold bugle and small beads, clear small aurora sequins, silver balls, and rhinestones. This dress is a bit small on the mannequin's 35" bust, so it is a bit pulled on her... it will look better on smaller than a size 6. Condition looks excellent, but tears were discovered as the netting under the beading is showing weakness.  The dress is on its way to get re-inforced.  If you want an awesome decorative deco flapper dress, you will love this in person! Not perfect, but the beading and design is "killer"! If it's a Molyneux... I lose! Measures: 38" to 46" long from shoulder, 34" bust, up to 36" hips.

#3623 - c. 1895 2-piece Gold and Ivory Brocade Dinner Gown with Pleated Chiffon! Pretty as a picture! This is the gown you would want to wear if you were invited to a casual dinner with the Vanderbilts in 1895. Now, I'm assuming, of course, that in your previous life, you were friends with the creme de la creme of high society. Oui? To attract one of Mr. Vanderbilt's rich friends, you probably would have added a few flower ornaments, as many woman did back then (see old fashion etchings if you don't believe me!) . Gorgeous gold and ivory silk brocade skirt and pleated silk chiffon bodice with huge puffed brocade and chiffon sleeves. Excellent condition outside, inside lining has some discolorations on lining only. Measures: 30" bust, 23" waist, 38" long waist to hem.

AUTHENTIC - "Gangs of NY" Wardrobe

SOLD
#4689 - c. 1860's Repro for the 2002 "Gangs of New York" Screen Worn by David Hemmings as Mr. Schermerhorn Plaid Velvet and Quilted Plush "At Home" or Smoking Jacket! Disclaimer:  I'm told it's screenworn, but I must tell you that I hated this movie, so I couldn't bear to watch it again to look for this smoking coat, so I'll leave it up to you.  Frankly I didn't care since I bought this particular piece for it's incredibly accurate antique look.  Most of the costumes from that movie were lower-class characters and therefore purposely dirty and worn.  NOT THIS PIECE!  As this was one of the few Upper Class characters. Worn by actor David Hemmings... perhaps best known for starring in the 1966 x rated movie, "Blow Up" with high fashion model Veruschka. Excellent condition and extremely elegant. Brown plaid velveteen with brown plush quilting at collar and long cuffs, with claret color rope trim and velvet cuff buttons. Frog closures at front. Measures: 44" long shoulder to hem, 25.5" long sleeves from outside shoulder seam to cuff. Fully lined. So... get him his slippers and pipe and play "Gentleman of the house"... you can be the French maid! :)  Comes with COA from Miramax Films and prop company. Also Listed in the Memorabilia Section.

#1733 - c. 1918 Navy Wool Twill Embroidered Suit! Originally donated by Amelia Mulrooney. So says the hand-printed tag inside the suit! Looks like it's it might have been deaccessioned from AAUW (the American Association of University Women)?? Wherever it is from, there is no question that had I been around in 1918, I would have bought this suit for myself. However, I was not around... but that's only because I had just been murdered by Bolsheviks, so I wouldn't have time to get to my next life yet! (Yes, I'm sure I was the Czarina Alexandra.. and, of course, that was after I was Cleopatra, and Anne Boleyn in my previous, previous lives!! :) Amazing that I would come back in 1954 as a nobody!!! Anyway... you wanna hear about the suit??? Great navy blue wool suit with awesome detailing.. including the double tasseled tie belt, the multitude of small buttons decorating down each side of the jacket, the embroidered small pockets at front and around the back hem and midback of jacket. The interesting design of the jacket hemline that dips down at the sides. And although the butterscotch colored geometric designed silk lining has problems... it's still a terrific addition! Measures: 37/38" bust, 27" long jacket from back to hem, 30" waist of skirt, 38" long skirt. Excellent condition with a few issues.. the lining is ripped and stained... but other than that... I just see two double pinhead size moth holes in jacket, and three on skirt... a few stitches of navy thread will do wonders!

#3649 - c. 1898 EDOUARD LOTTE, PARIS Promenade Gown of Blue Wool and Black Silk Ribbon with Velvet and Elaborate Steel Beaded Trim! Yes, a PARISIAN gown... this would have been the height of fashion in 1898. Fabulously interesting fabrication of navy blue boucle-type wool with black puckered silk ribbons throughout. The bodice is trimmed in silk velvet at high collar, lapels and attached waistband. Highly decorative openwork cutouts of lower bodice covered with steel flower beading! Gotta look at the photos! Inset bodice is a bright blue silk covered with a beaded netting. Excellent condition except for the decorative beaded netting on front bodice which has tears (though I'm surprised it survived at all it's so delicate!), minor tears to silk lining of bodice... and if you want me to get really picky, very front of the black velvet waistband has minor wear. Steel trim is still all excellent. Wool is in excellent condition. Measures: 30" bust, 23" bodice waist, 26" skirt waist, 41/42" long skirt. Skirt has heavy underskirt to give shape. Color is darker, stripes are more subtle than shown.. but lightened to show details.

#4050 - c. 1902 Cotter, Utica/New York Red Silk Print "Gibson Girl" 2-piece Afternoon Gown! Absolutely brilliant! No fading in this bright (nearly shimmering) red and white silk patterned 2-piece gown, trimmed in steel beaded black velvet. Gorgeous. Pretty little steel beaded decorations cover the black velvet ribbon trim. Gown is set off by Irish crochet bodice and cuffs. Look at the pretty white silk trimmed skirt ruffle under hem! Slight pigeon front "s" curve shape. Very good condition. The exterior is fabulous with just extreme minor issues... minor silk pulls on sleeves, ever so slight dirty lace cuffs, but really only two issues that are worth mentioning and they are: one stiletto high heel sized hole at the back skirt clearly lost in the fabric pattern, and one glaring dark spot on middle bodice on lace (which could be cleaned or hidden under cleverly-placed black velvet ribbon trimming - I'll give you my ideas if you want them... I'm full of ideas as I'm a "know it all"... as are all the girls in my family... unfortunately for our husbands!!). Paper thin taffeta lining is starting to go on bodice, and to a lesser degree on the skirt lining. Measures: 31/32" bust, 25/26" waist, 13" neck, 42" long skirt in front, 50" long in back.

#6166- c. 1930's Extraordinary Fully Beaded Black Rayon Gown with Matching Bolero!  Geez I wish I had videos rather than photos to show you so you could see this gown in motion - as it's fully beaded so will catch the light at every minute movement.  All those little white spots you see are clear beads on black rayon crepe.  Awesome!  AND comes with the original matching fully beaded bolero (see photos).  I'm showing the gown in some photos with some rhinestone clips as that how it would have been accessorized... but they don't come with it.  Love that low back with double straps!  This gown fits like a glove!!!!  So slimming on.. but you have to be small to start with.  Metal zipper on side.  Near Mint condition! Measures: 33/34" bust, up to 25" waist, up to 34" hips, 55" long from shoulder to hem, 58" long in back.  Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

#6234 - c. 1930's Plum Silk Velvet Bias Cut Gown with Open Sleeves!  Not absolutely perfect, so you get a great look at a great price!  Uniquely wonderful color is hard to give it a name, but the best I figured is "plum"... but depending on the light source it's either a red plum or a purple plum.  The silk velvet almost shimmers in the light.  So go to the supermarket and pick up a plum and imagine wearing it in a soft silk velvet skimming over your body in bias cut!  Fabulous very large ruched round chenille-like collar and gathered cuffs.  Then .. ooh... a long 14" open slit up the sleeves to show a hint of skin!  Tailored empire waistline at front to hug your shape. Matching velvet belt with rhinestone buckle (many stones missing).  Again, it's a great dress on, just has a few issues (see photos).  There are 4 pinholes (two double pinhead sized) and smidge of wear near the hem.  And there is a small repair in one sleeve and one pinhole in same sleeve. Snap side. Without any issues this dress is easily three times this price! So lucky for you I'm very picky about condition and the littlest pinhole will reduce the prices dramatically! Lucky you!  Measurements are nearly impossible on bias cut dresses, so just email your tapemeasure measurements and I will let you know how it will fit you. Basically it's a small size.  On the mannequin it fits her 33" bust, 25" waist, 34" hips, 54" long from shoulder to hem.   Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

#4682 - c. 1926 Fabulous Pink, Green and Black Beaded Floral Flapper Dress with Beaded Ribbons! Stop the presses! The original antique shop price tag on this dress was $3,495! It's one of those dresses that could easily be marked higher.. so rare a design! I have had many fabulous beaded flapper dresses recently.. and this is yet another! Too bad my photos can't quite show the beauty of the dress... it's a rare design of deco and florals in gorgeous colors of soft greens and pink, silver, white, gold metallic threads and and black beads at the bottom! Like a Monet painting in a wonderful and rare mottled look! The back is similar to the front except there are two beaded "straps" that hang down the back from both shoulders for a bit of flirty fun. Measures: 34" bust, up to 40" hips, 43" long from shoulder to hem. Slip is attached. of light green satin so it's ready to wear. Excellent condition! The only issue are the back beaded straps which can be shorted to near perfection. Note: wear heavy beaded 1920s dresses with care please, so they survive the next 80 years! :) I added a pink ribbon at hip in some photos to show another look... doesn't come with the dress. AND If you want to update the look.. try wearing with a pink ribbon at empire waist! You won't see a prettier dress in the stores today!

#3826 - c. 1926 Deco Tea-colored and Orange Design Crepe Day Dress! I sell few day dresses, of any era, as I usually find them boring. But boring this is not!! My mother bought me the PBS or A&E series tapes called "The House of Elliott" since she was enamored by the 20's costumes in the program. No doubt this dress would have been in the show if they had known about it! Tea colored thin silk crepe fabric in two layers. The under sheath which you see in the front panel, hemmed with wide lace, and then the attached overdress, pleated from the shoulders, edged in wide ecru lace which is totally open front and back and only ties down with the separate original tie belt. The design is a print in the silk fabric. Black stripes ending in orange flowers in the deco design. Short open lace sleeves. Very good condition with tiny issues... unfortunately one spot in the middle of the underdress... luckily hidden when worn, underarm staining on lining just barely seen on the exterior, tiny area fabric pulled away at one shoulder, and overdress would have been tacked down more, but really not an issue and fine without that. Shown with my long pearl necklace. Doesn't come with it. So for $10 you'll have to go find your own long necklace, or bat your eyes and get the man in your to buy you the real stuff! :) I measured it flat and doubled it to get: up to 40" bust, up to 40" waist (straight shape), up to 44" hips, 45" long from shoulder to hem... meant to be worn loose.

#3438 - c. 1892 Wrapper in Olive and Red Shot Broche with Olive Satin Ribbon! Ah, back when women were women. Back when we dressed in silks and satins for morning tea. When gowns like this were worn as "breathers" from the tightly corseted day and evening gowns. Yup... these are the Victorian woman's "sweats"! :) Interesting combination of colors in this changeable silk, from olive to red. Excellent condition. Very large leg-of-mutton sleeves. This gown would look great on a mannequin in the corner of your room. She just has a great presence about her. Measures: 32/33" bust, 24/26" waist with tight ribcage, 41" long from natural waist.

4358 - c. 1936 Red Plum Silk Velvet Gown! Wow! Superb maroon (though I call it red plum as that's the closest I can come to the right color!) velvet bias cut evening gown with long sleeves, upper sleeves puffed, with lower sleeve tightly buttoned (11 buttons on each!), small ruffle at neck. There is actually a very subtle stripe to the velvet making it look even more impressive. The bodice is seamed to accentuate the bustline. The gown hugs your curves and will drive him wild as he attempts to imagine what you look like with the dress off rather than on! :) Excellent condition. Side snaps. Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

# 11280 - c. 1930's Reversible Hand-sewn Trapunto Silk Black and Blush Cape! Well, I'm not sure this was actually meant to be reversible because the closure doesn't work that way, but as you can see, it's equally beautiful on both sides!  The black silk is hard to see all the detail, so look at the other side to see it (I'm waiting.........).  Right, you looked, yes??  This is a 40" long cape, meant to be worn over the slinky gowns of the 1930s.  There is not a lot of room for flailing about, so you will have to have narrow shoulders and a demure nature.  Yes, it's open at the front, but still, it feels like a cocoon.  The collar (as you can see) is in the opposite color.  The exterior black is in quite good (with the exception of the tiny wear/holes at the upper left back (see photos) and there is fading down from one shoulder down the one side.  Worse in the photos, but still it's there... slightly red. The interior has some issues... see photos... some subtle dirt marks and then a few minor wear holes (see photos).   Nothing is glaring, but it's there.  This piece is best for those of you who just adore trapunto.  Looks like someone spent a LOT of time on this garment!  Also listed in the 1930-Today and Furs, etc.  Sections.

# 11150 - c. 1930's 2-piece Black Crepe Gown with Bolero!  All Fringe!!! LARGER SIZE!  I love the fact that my mannequin was SO excited to wear this dress that she just couldn't stop from dancing... hence the tilted photo!!!  :)   OK, I lied.  I shot the photo late at night.  Obviously I was tired.  Anyway, it doesn't take away from the fabulousness of this dress!  Black crepe completely covered with VERY long black silk fringe all over the skirt... and the open fringe all over the separate bolero top!  You can wear with or without... or wear the bolero with something else.  LOVE the design in the fringe at the top front and back of bolero and on the waist to hip area around the skirt!!  Excellent condition.  Measures:  up to 42" bust, up to 38" waist, up to 44" hips, 60" long from shoulder to hem.  There is a very strange chopped up label inside the waist of this dress.  Could have been the original label, or someone could have just used it as some material. Don't know. Doesn't seem to be any issues, so it's unexplainable.

# 11114 - c. 1930's Ivory and Gold/Silver Woven Metallic Gown! Once again I wish I had studied fashion in college so I would know all the names of the fabrics.  Alas, I just sound like an idiot when I call this "woven metallic gown".  Sorry.  But if you look at the close-up photos, you can get a pretty good idea of what this is... and you can tell me!  It's a medium weight ivory fabric with gold metallic threads throughout creating an overall design.  Really lovely.  There are some minor issues that are the last 5 photos.   There is extreme minor pulling at the seam in one spot, and one area of the skirt that looks like it might have had a too hot iron, so slightly darker, and then the rolled over fabric at the underarms has oxidized so has turned green there, but in the last photo, I show that if you "redesign" the underarms slightly with a simple fabric turning, the most all of the green can be hidden under. Or remember, this is underarms, so unless you are dancing with your arms over your head, it's not generally seen. Buttons at back. Measures:  35" bust, up to 30" waist, 57" long from shoulder to hem.  Looks nicer in person than in the photos as it will shine!   Also listed in the 1930-Today Section.

Triple gathered piped sleeves with ruffled braiding at cuffs and collar. Two pockets at front. Dark metallic thread "frog" closures all the way down the front which is mostly open for what I assume is easy breast feeding! Great polished cotton or oil cloth lining. Measures: 37/38" bust, 15" across back between armseams, 31" waist, 41" long in front from waist to hem, 42" long in back.
