#9889 - c. 1926 INCREDIBLY RARE PAUL POIRET, Paris Black Silk Chiffon and Lace Dress!  If you are a true "fashionista" you probably already know of the Paul Poiret: King of Fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.  This dress came to me directly from a private collection - so it's new to the market! Poiret dresses are extremely rare on the open market!  Black silk chiffon, dropped waistline, slight blouson over a black satin underdress.  The skirt portion is a black chainstitch lace with chiffon filled flowers. The decoration comes from the piping at waist and the rows of beige/tan woven ribbons at cuffs, down front, and attached to the underskirt so it shows through the lace. There are no closures, just goes on over the head.    Excellent condition for such a rare piece... with some issues:  minor leg breaks in lace, a few stitches out, one weight missing from front of underdress (easy fixes). The only thing of importance are small holes in chiffon.  These are not glaring. I rate the dress an easy 9 out of 10. Label is in excellent condition - located on side seam inside. Measures: up to 36" bust, up to 40" hips, 42-48 long from shoulder to hem.

SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research/Study
