#6674 - c. 1909 Gigantic Edwardian Hat of Black Plush with Ostrich Feathers! At the end of the Edwardian era the hats increased in size to almost comical proportions... to the point the there were satirical drawings or women getting caught in doorways, or the problems of attempting to kiss! Sometimes called "Gainsborough hats" (from the artist), or even "Musketeer hats" (no, not "Mouseketeer"... geez)... or just plain Edwardian hats. Look at the size of this one!! Black plush (furry) stiff hat with interesting shape turned up at back and swept up on side. The hat is draped with white and black ostrich feathers for intense drama! There is no lining or interior shaping... the hat is meant to be worn on lots of piled up hair so it's quite large... too large for a normal sized head without extra hair. So, you will either need the hair, or line the hat with something puffy. Excellent condition. Measures: 19" x 20".
