#5444 - c. early 1870's
Copper Brown colored Silk Taffeta 3-piece Trained Gown! Yup...
that's 3-pieces. The button front, long peaked bodice with
bellsleeves over tighter sleeves. The simple, basic
trained full skirt, and the separate overskirt "apron" front and
back. All are trimmed in a thin flat matching satin.
A fairly basic, nice piece you can embellish if you wish!
Someone tried to embellish with the black lace attached at the
collar (which is old, but I doubt original to the piece).
In Excellent condition. Measures: 31" bust (12.5"
across back), 26" waist, 37" long from waist to hem in front,
50" long in back. Surprisingly strong, Excellent condition with
just minor blemishes... some tiny pinmarks at front bust (see
photo), and extremely minor discolored spots, and underarm
stains (see photos). There are no hooks at waistlines, so
I just pinned on. Nice crochet covered buttons down
bodice. This gown doesn't look like much off a mannequin/dressform,
but comes to life when on. I should have used more of a slip at
front to fill out, and I used a bustle at back in these photos.
