CRISTOBEL BALENCIAGA,
Paris Black Linen Haute Couture Dress with
Numbered Label and Original Matching
Belt!
Larger Size! Check out the
front cover of June 2007 Harper's Bazaar. The Chanel Haute
Couture dress worn by (eek!) Paris Hilton was obviously inspired by
this 1959 Balenciaga black linen dress! Balenciaga became known
for his architectural quality and standaway necklines - setting
collars away from the base of the neck. Same neck,
double-breasted, and 1/2 length sleeves. You know what "they"
say..."everything old is new again!" Best quote describing
Balenciaga's designs was "Beneath its apparent simplicity, each of
these little dresses is a masterpiece of Haute Couture. Examine them
closely and you will discover the subtlety and originality of the
cut". This is a faux wrap dress with back metal zipper. Check
out the tailoring of the shoulders! Simple gathering at back waist. Measures:
40" bust, up to 36" waist, up to 44" hips., 43" long from shoulder
to hem. Excellent condition. Nothing wrong! Sorry... I
neglected to photograph the belt and the number under the label, but
I will get to it! They DO exist!
SOLD - but on
display in Museum Category for Research/Display[Back]
