#4730 - c. 1882 2-piece Trained Light Taupe Silk Crepe and Satin Two-Tone Dinner Gown with Golden Silk Taffeta Trim and Train! This is one of those "gotta have" gowns for a room display.  The condition is so Excellent that it will take you back into time. For some reason it's one of those gowns that actually makes it feel like there is an invisible woman inside the gown. She is so refined and exquisite!  She is just about to perch her hat on her coiffed hair and slip on her gloves on her way out to dinner, leaving the children at home with the Governess. Her voice is soft and lilting. Her smile lights up the room. She is the woman everyone falls in love with at first sight.  Ahh.... perhaps it's just what I wish I was in my previous life.  The gown is elegantly two-toned.  Light taupe jacquard crepe bodice and apron, beautifully gathered satin skirt and satin edged sleeves , collar, yoke, and front and back bows.  All accented in golden silk taffeta on bodice and sleeves... and culminates in scrumptious ruched hemline bustled train. Low bustle tie inside. The only issue at all is extreme minor loss of accent crepe netting - normally this would have disintegrated fully, in fact it rarely survives on any antique garments! Measures: 34" bust, 25" waist, but 12" across back so it fits more like at 30" bust and 22" waist, 40" long skirt in front, 68" long in back. SO many details on this gown... you will never tire of looking at it!

SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research/Study
