#4386 - c. 1930's/early 1940's White Rayon Satin Nightgown and Matching Lace Trimmed Robe from Arnold Constable, New York! Arnold Constable department store was founded in 1827, and in the later 1800's it was one of the fine shops on New York's lower Fifth Avenue's fashionable "Ladies Mile". Finest quality garment! No question it was a from a wedding trousseaux, as it looks practically unworn (guess she only had it on for a few minutes!!!) The nightgown is simple white rayon satin with gathered bodice (with just a touch of lace), wide straps, empire waist and bias cut... oh and look at that low sexy open back! No WONDER it was only on for a few minutes!! :). The robe is also a white rayon satin (ever, ever so slightly difference in color.. less pronounced in person - and the lace, although it matches in style, is darker and pinker) I'm sure the two were sold together! Excellent condition. Measures: 60" long from shoulder to hem.. otherwise the only measurement that you will need is 28" underbust where the robe buttons.

SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research / Study
