#4335 - c. 1912 JEANNE HALLEE, Paris Pink Gossamer Silk Chiffon Gown! A most exquisite gown of this era! Parisian gown, labelled "Jeanne Hallee, 3 Rue de la Ville l'Eveque, Paris". This extremely rare evening gown came from one of my museum suppliers. As he said, "It's a miracle that this gown survived at all!". A beautiful rose pink gossamer chiffon draped over an underdress of ivory "peau-de-cygne (swan-skin - a kind of textured satin). It's trimmed under with embroidered gold net and pendant sprays of silk rose buds. Note that the inner petals of the flowers are a deeper shade than the outer petals, and with graduated ribbon colors. The gown is a surprisingly good size by today's standards at 35/36" bust. However, it's not perfect, as there are some small holes in the rose pink chiffon (most at hemline area, but you can see one in the third to last photo just under the gold embroidery at the front... the material is so thin that the holes are minor), and tears at the ivory chiffon underarms (see last photo), There is repair to the seams of one sleeve.Without a doubt, though it's a simple design, it's the most exquisite Edwardian gown I have ever owned. I don't think I will ever come across another, and I can't stop ooking at the photos!!! This is one of those gowns to get your portrait painted in!!
