#3475 - c. 1950's SIR NORMAN HARTNELL Turquoise Green and Grey Lace Gown! Norman
Hartnell is known as Queen Elizbeth's royal dressmaker. Most
famous for designing the Queen's Wedding gown, going away dress
and coronation gown. Lucky for the rest of us mere mortals, he
decided to sell to the general (rich) public as well. This gown
is uniquely beautiful. Rare fabrication with very finely worked
rouched dark grey ribbon onto the turquoise green lace, Amazing
quality in a classic timeless style. It just screams quality and
is mostly handstitched - you can see the unique use of chain
stitching as part of the design (see closeup)! Excellent
condition. The label bears the Royal Coat of Arms to show the
queen's patronage. Measures: 38" bust, 30" waist,
41" hip, 41" long from natural waist to hem. Metal
zipper back. A gown to play Princess!
SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research/Study
