#3220 - c. 1837 Roller-Printed Cotton Day Gown!
Here's another older gown in surprisingly good condition. Strong and wearable if you are small. I love the old prints... frankly very "modern" stylized light red, light green, and black flowers and triangles on a patterned beige ground. Classic detailing of the era includes the mini-pleated upper arms and waistline and bodice. This gown has an attached ruffled pelerine-look collar which overlaps the upper arms. Hooks and eye closure at mid back. Finely gathered waist. I photographed the gown over the wrong underhoop (really need tons of petticoats) as so she looks pregnant. Well, heck, perhaps she was pregnant! It would certainly fit her. And looks damn good pregnant if you ask me! Measures: 30" bust, 24" waist, 37" long from waist to hem. Excellent condition, strong. Clean underarms. There are a few noticeable spots. One just under mid-waist, two at the right hip area (see photos), and one on each lower undersleeve. Otherwise only very light spotting here and there, hardly seen. A fine example of the era!
SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research/Study
