#3185 - 1910 Gigantic Black "Lampshade" Hat
with Bead and Sequin Trim! This shape lampshade hats are hard to find...
probably because they were so hard to store.. as you can
tell from the height! Great hat to quickly evoke the
period! Matte black material ruched and roped at top.
Tight high brim is covered with slightly dulled sequins,
jet beads and huge black jet ornament at front. With all
this jet and dulled fabrication, it's possibly a mourning
hat. The highlight of this hat comes the tall
"wings" which rise up from the front. The label
is under the lining, hard to get in to read, but a label
from N. Orange, New Jersey! Eeek! However, you can easily
see the most important part... "Importer" which
means this is likely a Parisian import. I don't know how
many great milliners came from New Jersey! :) Excellent
condition except for the two missing spokes of the large
jet ornament with extreme minor wear at lining edge.SOLD
