#3092 - c. 1848 Blush Rose Pink
Silk Moire Slightly Trained Ballgown! It's 1848 and it's
Elizabeth's first Cotillion. Since they had recently moved from
the country house to their city dwelling, Elizabeth knew that no
one would recognize the slightly altered gown her older sister
wore to her first cotillion three years earlier. And she knew
what magic it could bring her, as her sister met her future
husband at that ball. And Plush pink was definitely Elizabeth's
color! OK, fast-forward 154 years. I'm hoping that Elizabeth's
great, great, great, great, great granddaughter is checking out
my website! Wouldn't that be great! Well, no matter who you are,
you have to love this gown! Wonderful pale pink silk moire with
extremely fitted bodice, pointed "v" waist,
off-the-shoulder neckline, scalloped cap sleeves, ivory tulle and
lace band around skirt bottom dotted with black velvet baby
ribbon bows. Back lacing has one of the original laces. (I didn't
tie to tie for you, though it will look great done up... all the
eyelets are fine.) As clean and strong as they come from this
era! Excellent condition, with just very minor light spots in a
few places, right waist area has some staining (see photo) and
one darker small spot at the pocket on skirt, Underarms are
perfect Bodice boning slightly sticking through lining. Frankly
it just needs someone to spend the time to steam out the velvet
ribbons to tidy up to be wonderful. Measures a tiny 28"
bust, 21" waist, 37" long waist to hem in front and
44" long from waist to hem in back.
