#3040 - c. 1960's PAULINE TRIGERE Couture Evening Gown with Rhinestones! If
you are reading this, I know that you are aware of great
design... otherwise you'd be buying dresses from K-Mart rather
than from Antique and Vintage Clothing websites! The most
extraordinary Trigere gown...ever! Absolute Couture Museum
Quality. The cut of the soft, lightweight black wool crepe gown
is basic, simple elegance. But what makes this so spectacular is
the 1920's styled, highly glamorous touch of hundreds of
hand-sewn, hand-pronged rhinestones all over the upper bodice,
covering the straps, and wrapping around to the back. The
rhinestones form a trompe l'oeil bow on the front. The top of
bodice is silk chiffon. Fully lined in black silk satin. 2 sets
of snaps on each strap to hold bra in place. Side slit skirt. I
happen to own a 1928 gown with a very similar feel to the
rhinestone design.. but frankly... this is even better! Measures
33" bust, 27/28" waist, 36/37" hips, 56" long
from shoulder to hem. Mint condition...looks unworn. A highly
collectible piece. Ms. Trigere recently passed away at age 93. In
her obituary, it was stated that "she was the first to use
common fabrics like cotton and wool in evening wear in the
40's". Here is one!
