#1444 - c. early 1900's Original and Authentic Early US Salvation Army Straw Hat!  I show a photo of the hats worn in the 1880's which were not straw (so it seems), so I date this to about 1900-1920 from the interior construction. Black shiny straw with slightly faded red silk ribbon with "The Salvation Army" lettering, and white black silk bow at back with black crepe at front. The hat is shaped with a cutaway back to accommodate a bun hairstyle (so again... that dates it to earlier than 1920s when many women sported a short bob style. Approximate 22" side fits a normal size head.  Slight fading and extreme minor wear still rates it Very Good.  SO... for your next production of "Guys and Dolls", or just for a unique addition to your hat collection!

SOLD - but on display in Museum Category for Research/Display
