Click on image for additional photos!		 #1321 - c. Late 1940's Charming Grey & White Checked Large Shawl Collared Double-Breasted Spring Coat! This coat stopped me dead in my tracks! It was sitting in an antique shop surrounded by some really atrocious 1970's pieces...a perfect example of the late 1940's following Dior's New Look. It is in Excellent Condition except that one button is missing (drat!) and there is one tiny moth or pin hole on one side of the large collar (see photo... see if you can spot it!). The tailoring is great, after all.. it's from Lord & Taylor! Heck, I may be wearing this myself until it's sold, since it fits me like a glove at a size 6. 34" bust, 28" waist, full hips, 15" across back between armholes, 29' long from waist. I must also tell that this could probably be worn as a dress, and may have been designed to double as that since there are two snaps down the inside of the skirt flap to keep it closed. I would expect that in a winter coat to keep out the cold, but this seems too light a weight wool to bother. Fully lined. Brooke-maid label. Price is a heck of a lot cheaper than a new coat!
